I see. I was kind of like that and played the gameboy games for fun but they got boring and then I found out about goat (2005) and edison (2010). Both are actually quite fun to play and have pretty active communities. You should give them a try if you get bored of the games too.
I don't like xyz that much but I still prefer them over current, I hate that version of the game. You have to be a very unsilly boy to enjoy that.
