Word bearers need no upgrade kits.
Freehand gets the job done well enough, and it’s one of the main reasons I like painting them. The generic CSM sculpts fit them well.

Same goes for IW if you use HH mk3 and mk2 parts.

>alpha legion
Reddit seems to like this army and I wish I had a dime for every Reddit post that goes “painting some alpha legion right now!” And it’s just a CSM primed in leadbelcher with kroxigor scales contrast paint (still manages to look sloppy). My point is that I think alpha legion would sell well, and so would night jobbers as we’ve seen with their kill team sprue.

I find that small characters from books or snippets have the most character and embody how the small human experiences and ambitions get swallowed up in the carnage and despair. Guardsmen, marines turned traitor, aspiring champions, aspirants, and anyone with real genuine motivation or hopes are more interesting than somebody who got like 5 books or a primarch.

>former loyalist turned world eater seething in furious anger at how he used to to be a loyalist as he foams at the mouth waiting for his drop pod to land

>the tech priest who sacrificed himself to bring the ultramarines’ communications back online on Calth

>the gene stealer family from hammer and Bolter

Idk that’s just me though.

>general Stubbs from Dow soulstorm who fights space marines and SoB alike to prove that the guard can’t be outdone by either (and also to advance his career)

>the the guardswoman who wouldn’t kneel to the Iron warriors in that one WH+ short and ends up becoming a servant
