>It's literally discordniggers using 4chan as a chatroom/recruitment board
Complete with 800+ post threads having like 25 images at most, because the concept of using images on an imageboard is beyond the understanding of the neverending deluge of tech-illiterate zoomies and gen-alphas swarming that place now.
Some Anon denote the rot beginning to spread around that board in ~2016, but I'd put that a few years too early. There were still plenty of decent Generals going strong at the time, with people actively posting about their experiences in-game with one another, taking screencaps all the while and orchestrating meet-ups, events, etc. (Plenty of drama as well, but that's to be expected).
2020 was (predictably) when the floodgates really started to open up, but it wasn't until around ~2022 or so that the changing demographics of the site truly begun to be felt in the worst way possible. You're absolutely right, most Generals on /vg/ in [current year] (and even some on /vm/ by this point) may as well be akin to Discord channels with how the newer generations treat them, completely ignorant of how to carry themselves in any format other than a direct IMing client.

>The biggest problem communities are /xivg/, /pso2g/, and /bnsg/
>/bnsg/
It's painful to see this one included in with the others, as 2016-2018 era /bnsg/ was a fantastic place. The camaraderie was off the charts there for the longest time, with screenshots galore and even quality OC by local artists being made on-the-regular.
Its corpse being exhumed for NEO's launch, and subsequently desecrated top-to-bottom by wildly ill schizos, is just about the biggest mockery of the source imaginable. /xivg/ and especially /pso2g/ were doomed from the start, but /bnsg/ was one of the best threads on that board during its prime. Shame you'd never know it, going by its wretchedly sordid state now.
