>yes, I know we just lost a series to the Astros who are winning their division and headed for the postseason
>but we just won against the Twins, Cardinals, and Rays, three really bad teams whose season has been over for at least a month already
>and I am about as dumb as they come
>which means I am about to get uppity about my crappy stankees
>until they get slapped down by the Red Sox, Astros, Jays, Tigers, and Orioles over the first three weeks of September

Cashman is a nepo baby. Cashman's father was business partners with George Steinbrenner. George gave Cashman a job on his horse farm and then made him an assistant to an assistant with the Yankees. At the time, the Yankees were being run by Gene Michael at the major league level and Billy Connors at the minor league level. Cashman was nothing but an intern who was elevated only because Bob Watson decided to retire late in Spring Training in 1998. Cashman was literally handed an alltime great roster by Gene Michael and Bob Watson, and he had nothing to do until those contracts started to expire. Go back and look at those 2000's Yankees rosters. Look at the bullpens. Cashman was a poor gm then, and now he is a poor gm with one of the highest budgets in baseball.
