IDF Spokesperson:

Earlier today (Monday), a staffing discussion was held under the leadership of the Chief of Staff for appointing commanders to core positions in the operational array and headquarters.

This is a staffing discussion centered on field positions for which brigade commanders who have commanded and led since the outbreak of the war in several combat arenas are competing.

The discussion was scheduled in advance, according to the rules, recognizing the importance of promoting commanders at the operational front and the need to allow them and their families orderly and clear rotations.

The Chief of Staff is the sole authority in orders for appointing commanders at the rank of Colonel and above in the IDF. The Chief of Staff holds an orderly staffing discussion with the participation of the General Staff forum.

The Chief of Staff is the decision-maker on appointments - after which the appointment goes for approval by the minister who can approve or disapprove the appointment.
