I'm in the camp that shinies aren't a meaningful endgame and don't make up for a lack of one, so I don't mind them being easier to obtain, especially now that changing Natures/IVs/EVs is also easier to adjust than ever. My gripe is the lack of a Battle Tower/Frontier now that stronger Pokemon are widely available without harsh time investments.
