Hey guys, I'm finally grooming some friends into playing but we're all completely fresh to actual tabletop and have some questions to answer before we start putting together lists.
I know 10th is the current edition, but have also heard here and elsewhere on /tg/ that it's a bit soulless and clearly focused on competitive play and mass appeal compared to previous editions, but wasn't sure which one would be the best balance between accessibility and avoiding rules bloat vs actual sovl. Is 8ed still the best "good old days" edition? What are the big differences between some of the better editions in the past versus how things have changed now (ideally some examples, I need material to make a good argument to not just use whatever is latest and greatest if there truly is a solid reason to roll back rules aside from sovl)
