The Disney movie Frozen was based off 7 short stories created by Hans Christian Anderson in Denmark at the year 1844, 1 year before he made The Red Shoes story; The whole thing was titled as “The Snow Queen”.
The devil created a magical mirror that had the power to make all beautiful things ugly, all good turned ridiculous, and evil to look glorious. His servants tried to carry it up to Heaven to mock the angels, but before they could arrive, they dropped the mirror. It fell down to Earth and shattered into splinters, embedding itself into people around.
Kai and Gerda were two people who had been friends since childhood. 2 splinters of the magic mirror went into Kai, one in his eye and one in his heart. He began to treat Gerda coldly due to the shards, but she loved him anyways. The Snow Queen came by one day on her sleigh, and he went away with her to the Ice Palace far away after being captivated by her evil reversed into beauty. Inside the Ice Palace he sat alone, endlessly solving icy puzzles to fulfill what the queen asked of him, as she roamed the world spreading cold and malice.
On the way to find Kai, Gerda found an enchanted garden owned by a witch, where time stood still. The witch, wanting to keep Gerda, used a magic brush on her hair to slowly make her forget Kai, and to stay in the garden with her. She broke away though after the flowers reminded her, and after getting help from a prince and princess, arrived at the Ice Palace.
There she found Kai completely isolated, solving an impossible puzzle of ice. She cried tears of love for him and it melted the shards in his body. They returned home, and lived happily ever after.
Lissandra could have used a story like that. Instead, it’s just another epic corruption story.
