The big box starter are probably because of how the single sprue per faction are designed. It's the same sprue six times per box. Some models like the swarms in Nameless only have enough to make one unit between all six sprues. If they included less you incomplete units. It's a very thrifty way to get a hard plastic range, but obviously blocks them from making smaller cheaper starter sets. At least you get 2K+ points with options in the box.

It helps that all the other units are available as STLs and even the giant monsters aren't that big. It keeps the game very affordable. Some units' STLs are labelled as 'common variant' so i have hope that we'll see the other variants that are in Firefight. I'd love to get the mule carrier hornets eventually. Said hornet STLs already have detachable pods so you can swap between the gunship and regular version easily.
