Because they're the most shallow, vapid, bottom of the barrel people ever. Their stories are simply not interesting, compelling, or relatable. Apart from social critique like Taxi Driver or dark comedy like Boogie Nights there's no other real angle you can take with them; and this particularly American tendency to paint them as romantic figures is fucking repulsive to me and has a real social impact in this country.
