I thought Cal was a bit out of line here.

All jokes aside, Ben's obsession with Eddington makes a lot more sense when you realize Eddington's story was meant to be a continuation of Cal's, they just didn't bring him back for whatever reason.

I think that's part of why Sisko takes everything Eddington does so personally.

The episodes were clearly written for the Cal character who had been one of Sisko's closest friends and comrades. If you plug Cal in for Eddington, Sisko's anger starts making a hell of a lot more sense.
