Romance Dawn arc: 9/10
>A comfy and compelling start to a laidback story, with emotional impact and a promise of a story that'll evolve to something grand.
Orange Town arc: 8/10
>Feels like what it is, a fun, short romp with Luffy adding a couple of friends to his crew, doesn't overstay its welcome, and manages to introduce the marines as a faction that, while Luffy's enemy, isn't just all black-and-white
Syrup Village: 7/10
>Tad too long, but still a fun arc, Usopp is immediately a standout character in many way, and his addition feels genuinely exciting as the cowardly lion
Baratie: 7/10
>The first arc that starts to feel more like a "proper" shonen, the small setting makes the arc feel longer than it is, but Mihawk and Zoro's defeat brings about some intrigue. Sanji's backstory is cool, but adds length.
Arlong Park: 9/10
>First really good arc since the beginning, this where the story really hooked me. Nami's backstory, the themes of the arc and everything about it felt really good. There were a couple of parts that felt like a bit fillery, like Luffy being stuck underwater.
Loguetown: 9/10
>While the story has been going on for a good while, this is where you get that "holy shit, this really is just the beginning, isn't it?" vibe. The world starts to feel like it really is much bigger than just the Strawhats, and that Luffy may be in over his head.
Reverse Mountain: 7/10
>Shit starts to get kinda wild with Laboon, and it'll only get wilder from here on out. This is where it really hits you that this is indeed a fantasy world with absurd shit in it, and that the comedy can extrent beyond gags, and become "reality" in the story. Very fun, nonetheless, and feels like buildup to what's about to come.
Whiskey Peak: 8/10
>Continues with the setup theme, and manages to be very cool where as the shit with Laboon was funny first and foremost. Zoro gets his moment to shine, but the fight with Luffy feels like forced fanservice.
