Not true at all. The average White American is Whiter than most southern European "whites."
And White Americans in different regions of the US are typically 100% descended from whatever European ethnic group primarily settled that region: Whites along the Atlantic coast are descendants of the original British settlers, further inland in Appalachia, they are protestant Ulster-Scots. Lower midwest is German, Upper midwest is Scandinavian. Boston is Catholic Irish.
The various European ethnic groups only started mixing with each other as they followed the frontier west of the Mississippi. But even then they are generally 100% White European.
