(Part 3)
We value effort and ability in the ring. But also the charisma and quality of the person. For example, here everyone knows that La Parka (in his second version) was a bad wrestler, but he was someone who always took pictures with the children and who never left until he had greeted the last fan left in the arena. Many times he preferred to dance and make jokes in the ring rather than wrestle, but people loved him madly because he really was a great guy and didn't just try to show himself like one. He became an idol of the people for being who he is, without pretending anything nor acting like a 'good guy'. People just don't like being tricked and scammed.
AAA had a 'brilliant' idea trying to instantly elevate a luchador by having him win the mask of the most beloved wrestler in Mexico at that time. The result of this was that Mexico hated them both equally. Psycho Clown was never an idol, and Dr. Wagner Jr. went from being the most beloved wrestler by everyone to the most hated in the country.
What's happening with El Hijo del Vikingo isn't new. It's what happens when you do things really wrong and try to sell the crowd something that ISN'T REAL.
