And I can see your viewpoint as well, but also disagree. For me, the whole "this is a cartoon, not a real person" thing is a cope. That's just how I see it. I wouldn't be looking at characters depicted as a certain age, in a thread dedicated to their age group, if I didn't feel some form of attraction to that age.
I can see why it's different for you and me, though. Because yes, a fantastical drawing with bright colors, exaggerated anime appearances, in settings and poses not common IS a form of fantasy. I suppose it IS possible to view something like this, and say you never feel a similar attraction to the real stuff it's imitating. That is entirely possible. I just don't think it's common.
