I finally did it, 121 hours later I’ve beaten the game. I’m left with mixed feelings but all I can say is I enjoyed it more than any persona game I’ve played (maybe oldsona is as great as they say but I don't want to check it myself). I just hope Atlus will rerelease the game eventually with a bunch of new content or make a spinoffs even. I played on Hard ST + LU and it paid off since the protag’s late game archetype made for this exact build, I think.
The last 20 hours were heavy, knowing the end was near, I aimlessly wandered the Grand Trad streets, trying to delay the inevitable. Just soaking it in, I guess.
About 90% of the cast is great (even many of the side characters) but some just aren’t for me like Junah, Bardon, and Alonzo felt flat and boring.
My main complaints about the game boil down to a few things:
>half the dungeons designs are laughably mediocre
>some story bosses are way too easy and lack creativity
>the most braindead but fun chaosfag I’ve ever seen as the antagonist
>unpolished and rushed plot twist
>SLs/story not being fully voiced
The highlight for me was the Mustari Islands questline. It was nicely crafted from start to finish. Del and Basilio added depth and background tension even if it stayed mostly somewhere behind. I expected to fight them, wanted to, but I was way off, and I loved that. And Eupha is such a cutie, a proper Devil Summoner girl… love her and her helmet has such an elegant design, wish she wore it more often.
The game has SMTIV-2 logo all over it and I want more. The "ancient city ruins" had my full attention and I wish Atlus leaned harder into that. Just a taste of that dungeon made me crave more exploration, but sadly it never went deep enough.
A retarded post, I know, had to remove a bunch of stuff just not to make the word limit filter mad but yeah, I absolutely love this game. Still, need a bit of time to process everything but I’m definitely coming back for a NG+ run later.
