Got custom objects with animations working. Only trouble right now is getting collision working.
Game checks for the object ID in a binary table and if it doesn't find it it won't load the object. Making changes to that table gets the object to load and animations will work just fine, but I still have to figure out how to get the game to load the collision files when included.
There must be something missing for this custom object ID still since if I put another object in this slot the collision files load correctly.

I’ll never understand this take. Tartarus is fine, especially because of how layered it is. That alone gives you the sense of progression you climb floor after floor until you hit the plot point, feeling good about the job well done. And it’s not like Tartarus is the only dungeon in the game each dungeon has its own set of rules to make things interesting. Atlus even added extra challenges plus a new game mechanic (which sucks ass, but still it’s something new just like he wanted). If you’re playing just for the social stuff, the easy difficulty basically turns the game into a VN. So what’s the jouros’ problem again?

It’s hilarious how they beg for Switch ports every damn time but totally ignore the physical issue. I had to wait a whole month to get my PS4 copies of M:R and Raidou just because I wanted physical versions. Also, the idea that every single game needs to be on every single platform is just ridiculous especially when M:R launched on PC day one.

I think I'm getting close to what's possible with the current modding tools. Well actually I already exceeded what the modding tools can do because the mapping between a collision point and what function gets called when you interact with it doesn't currently have a binary template to work with. But the first 16 bytes of every entry in the datatable that dictate what prompt pops up when you stand next to an interaction point is the main thing I don't understand the formatting of still. The rest of the file is easy.
The bigger issue is script merging on these Squirrel language scripts is still a mess, and even if I decompile and recompile the collision scripts without making any changes random things on the map just stop working outright (and trying to add a new function is still very much a fool's errand). I think what it comes down to is the version of the compiler available for all mods currently which is a difficult thing to circumvent. Some scripts go back together just fine, others explode into tiny pieces.

Isn't Louis' Airship supposed to be challenging? The game gives you 20 days to secure the route to his personal chamber, saying you need that time to prepare before going after the keys. Looking at it through a different lens, it's like giving everyone the chance to get a Persona, but your Persona can kill you if you can't deal with your anxiety. Just more grotesque in practice. Yep, it happened just like I feared they introduced a new party member in the most retarded way possible and made it even worse by making her this Ann/Makoto hybrid. No offence to anyone, but personally, I think those two are among the worst characters in P5. Still, I’m hoping this awkward mess of a character gets sorted out somehow, just like what happened with Neuras. I admit I was wrong about him he ended up being a surprisingly well developed lad.
Aside from that, finishing the infiltration and clearing all the side quest dungeons gave a chance to progress through several SLs and they’ve all been great so far.Love Strohl’s story. It’s simple, but there’s a certain charm to it, showing his moderate lawfag nature.
Heismay is great too. Almost every scene with him invoked Living with Determination in my head. I’m genuinely invested in his SL. And after hanging out with him, I can’t help but to wonder why Atlus hasn’t introduced more nonhumanoid characters. Maybe they’re saving those for a sequel or a spin-off who knows.
Brigitta’s SL is also pretty good. For some reason she reminds me of Tae... or maybe Nozomi a bit. Even Milady to some extent.
And I’ve got to mention Catherina even though all her interactions are scripted/plot driven, still enjoyed every one of them. Despite how comical she looks she’s got actual personality traits at least I think she does.
The only weak link so far is Alonzo’s SL. It feels like a missed opportunity, there’s potential there maybe the good stuff is saved for later, but it’s just feels trivial
Also I’d really appreciate if at least party members had some sort of loyalty missions to their SLs.

I do believe you, but the introductions and awakenings of the other party members felt much more natural like they were organically put into the story. With Junah it was more like “uuum sweaty don’t like underestimate a singing mouth” and suddenly she has an Archetype with some new gameplay mechanics or whatever those masks do, I haven’t had a chance to test it yet.
Right now, she feels kind of forced into the plot just for convenience, similar to how Makoto was.
That said, I was wrong about Neuras, so I’m willing to give Junah a fair chance. Maybe she’ll develop into a more likeable character over time.

But I really wish we got that Batlin SL. He seems like a shady but genuinely interesting character. I imagine his SL could’ve been a lot of fun maybe something like Tanaka’s with some Ohya flavour, considering his journo side.
I’ve had my suspicions about how the game handles assets, especially with the ridiculously low number of NPC models, but aside from that, it’s fine. I’m not complaining about the graphix or the lack of NVIDIA PhysX™, the game still looks better than P5 in some ways to me at least.
Also, the cutscene quality is weirdly close to SH2 levels. Some are unironically great, and others… just there.
But it doesn’t feel unfinished the way P5 sometimes did. M:R definitely feels more polished and better planned overall.

Funny enough, there aren’t many characters for fujos to cling to or at least that’s how it feels to me. Only Louis and More really fit the bill.
But every time I go to More’s realm I end up missing Victor. It’s not that More feels like a fujobait character or that I dislike interacting with him, his design and personality are fine and I’m curious about his story too. It’s more of an aesthetic or thematic thing, I guess. He has this strong Renaissance feeling all over him, the sense of exploration and discovery and I’d prefer something more occult/mysterious in that place and type of character.

Zorba is absolutely not going to get anything more. Even with the Manga ending up keeping him alive for longer, the way the story is structured leaves no room to keep him around. He wasn't even shoehorned in the scene where Glodel is having a fight with Gideaux and everyone from Louis's entourage comes on in (fidelio, basilio, junah) and even though Zorba is "alive", he's not there.
Him being dead is also what makes Fidelio more suspicious of Will and wants to keep spying on him all the way to Virga so even less chance to show Zorba in any way.
The only purpose Zorba serves in the story is to be kind of an asspull to not actually keep Louis dead and to kill the Prince.
He's also not even remotely within the top 15 of popularity, so I don't think Atlus considers him any important. It's not like they'll suddenly give Glodel relevancy just because he has 1 sole fangirl that keeps drawing him every day.
No idea why More isn't in contact with Will considering that the lategame twists rely so much on that but they're also skipping every single dungeon altogether to not make anyone in the party other than Will fight.

I wanted More to be Metaphor's Igor at first (because he's better) but story-wise, his purpose is kind of fulfilled and it'd be cruel to keep him trapped for seemingly no reason, when the reason for his entrapment was the King's magic to begin with. Finally played E33 and I can see why people compare it with Metaphor considering they're actually quite similar but still incredibly different. The ultimate twist of E33 is pretty much the same as Metaphor's (the MC was a Special Person all along, and they both even get white hair). The thing with E33, while its atmosphere and fantasy elements are better than Metaphor's (the elections as a theme is too weak), the plot and the characters aren't. The expedition team is ultimately meaningless and they have no real synergy with one another as a team, they're basically glorified imaginary friends. The characters don't really have any charisma, they feel like vessels of the plot / vessels of the gameplay. At least Atlus has known how to get people interested in their characters for years.
The family is what matters the most in E33, while in Metaphor the family really doesn't matter at all (More is just tossed aside like nothing, the Queen is irrelevant and never interacts with Will ever again after the fusion). Obviously the party members are the most important in Metaphor.
E33 does at least keep consistent in it's theme, but the game ONLY gets good at the last half.
Metaphor lowkey shits the bed in the last half, but stays consistent throughout in the early game. Metaphor needs at least 1-2 extra month to keep its momentum a bit better after the Opera house imo.
Both have their strengths and weaknesses but Metaphor feels like a game I'd at least think about for a long time, while E33 is pretty and atmospheric but you probably wouldn't think about it ever again after finishing it. Likely on purpose.
