>made it back to the final month of the game again
man I just love the entire stretch from the end of the Dragon Temple, it's very rare that we get a non-retarded depiction of religion in JRPGs
on multiple playthroughs there's a whole new meaning to Forden's portraits in the Grand Cathedral too, they painted the Mage Academy closing like this tragic but beautiful thing in deep blue but in reality it was an absolute shitshow that killed the monks, the state army and the researchers, and then you get to fight the thing that caused all that and it's the only enemy in the game that gets the Diarahan jumpscare
Overall they did a great job making the dragons in this game feel significant and also tying them (and the fairies) into the overarching theme of travel as a means of defining oneself
