Pic related, blue bar, is stamina graph for an end closer with 1200 speed 1000 stam + 2 gold recoveries vs a debuffer with two white stamina debuffs. You end up with more HP then needed to finish the course. If you stack two more stamina debuffs on top of this then they will just barely run out of stamina. Go ahead and listen to your guide makers and build 1200 stamina + 3 gold recoveries if you want, you will just get obliterated by smart players who cap speed instead.
