The issue is that AI is being used to make the most garbage, low-effort games that are even worse than those asset flips you see get uploaded on itch.io that somehow make it to the steam store. They don't even try to make a good game with it since it requires effort to do so, and even to put a modicum of it into the development of their game is too much for them, as they only see it as an opportunity to become rich. If more passionate gamedevs worked with AI, then you may see something good come out of it, but as another anon pointed out, you'll just get a bunch of rubbish instead. For one good game that's made with AI, there'll be 5,000 shovelware games with subpar game design made with the sole purpose of generating revenue and nothing more.
