Dunno how well it applies to OP but wouldn't flying FPV sims till you are decent and applying for such a position yourself be not that bad?
Do they have no demand for any more pilots so being a foot soldier is the only option or what?

Need like 50 bucks for a RC and another 50 if you don't wanna pirate the sim.
