I've lived on the Oregon coast, in Portland, and spent the last two years around Tacoma/Seattle. It's not that bad. I came from a much hotter drier place (california) and really like how there's some actual moisture. The winter and fall are really calming to me and the summers can be extraordinarily beautiful.
Most people are addicted to coffee because of the seasonal affective disorder, since it gets darker and wetter for the winter and it gives some people depression. People also tend to be slightly more insular and more into media. Plenty of people who are outgoing in order to counter that though, just depends on where you go. Yes, people are far more liberal here, and you'll definitely get more people vocally disagreeing with you for being conservative, but at the same time, there's lots of people who veer quite opposite because they don't like being disagreed with in public. I've not had issues in dating or whatever except when I've casually been racist. And obviously that's not going to get you far, people tend to think being outwardly racist and leaning on stereotypes and tropes means you're small minded, and in retrospect, I agree with them.
Once I hooked up with a girl on Tinder, she and I browsed /lit/, it was really cool, but what turned me off was her continual use of the word nigger. Not that I didn't mind that she was racist but it was definitely a O_o kind of vibe. So if you're patient and outgoing you'll meet a variety of people, it's not all just blue hairs and the like. Seattle and Portland are definitely a lot more rich/suburban than they used to be and people's politics change depending on which chunk of those cities you're hanging out in.
PNW has great food if you like asian options because we have a lot of asians. Not nearly as many as Cali but it ain't bad.
