Pro teams are rarely made up mostly of people from their own state. If they have the budget and competent management, they can bring in whoever they need to win.
Even university sports are increasingly this way. Pic related is the roster for Penn State University. Look at how few players are actually from Pennsylvania. And it's not like that's a small state with few high schools to recruit from. Because it's a major program, they pull from all over the country.
