kots will give a better answer as soon as he wakes up, but there is more than one. Personally the Escort seems prettier to me the more time passes, it also looked good with any livery and although it was not very successful in the world championship, for a long time it was very popular in the national championships in its different homologations with good results. I don't know if it had any special technical aspect (I'm sure it did but I don't have that knowledge) but at some point in 1997 Ford announced a lack of power in its engines that caused it to lose up to half a second per kilometer in some sections. Maybe that's why his only victories were in Greece and Indonesia. Btw there was a small scandal in Indonesia '96 because someone accused Sainz of receiving external help and his disqualification was even announced but there was a protest and apparently pics to prove otherwise, in the end he was only fined

Good news: The Worldwide Technology Raceway tent at IMS gave me free GA tickets to the Indycar Race on Sunday.

Bad news: I spent too much money between the IMS trip and other life events to afford to go so soon.

Good news: A coworker is taking the tickets and her boyfriend to the race on Sunday.

I'm genuinely happy those tickets are being used, those two aren't Indycar fans, but her boyfriend follows some dirt track stuff and Slinger, as well as Nascar. He was super pumped and now they're both excited, apparently they haven't had a day trip in ages.

I imagine that next year the race will be scheduled for Saturday night regardless of the attendance this year. Hello fellow Wisconsinfag, I hope you're able to be in a position to do both soon, too. They're both excellent tracks in their own way and well worth the time and expense. (Pretty sure we've discussed this a time or two).

The 500 really is everything they say, and definitely worth attending, if not yearly, then at least once in your lifetime. Having said that, I love seeing these cars, and this style of racing, and I'd like to see them at as many venues as I can. I'll travel for a race, though a ten hour drive would be nearing my limit.

My dream retirement would be a cabin up north with land to shoot a 1000 yards, and an RV to travel to all of the races and canp with maxcomfy.

Thinking about the UK where the race runs on Sky's adfree uninterrupted main vrooms-channel with Tom Gaymore, but now that's unavailable and they have to move it to their Sports Mix niche shit and split the viewership with, or rather completely surrender it to, the Canada race. no es bueno.

The simple reason for the current scheduling conflict is money. FOM wants more races for more revenue, Teams want their summer and winter shutdowns to save money, and that means a very tight calendar remains with the shipping times factored in (interesting fun fact: shipping a lot of shit around the world is more time consuming than shipping around a single country in trucks)

I adore the 787B but for all intents and purposes they were handed a loophole on a silver platter. Piston-engined Group C cars were slapped with a 100 kilo ballast in 1991 while the Mazdas were exempt because they successfully convinced FISA that the 787B was so shit that they wouldn't be competitive even with a 100kg advantage.
And then the Mercs and Jags proceeded to shit the bed, and whaddya know.

Moving to Saturday probably wasn't doable so late, but moving the time presents an acceptable compromise, even with the risk. I do believe that next year they'll schedule it for Saturday, unless the ratings are absolutely bonkers, then maybe the chance to delay the race will be worth it. As a spectator, I generally take the next day off, especially if I have to travel.

> WRC27 takes shape as regulations open to huge variety of bodywork designs
The World Council today approved one of the final pieces of the compelling puzzle that is coming together to mark the start of a brand-new era for the FIA World Rally Championship from 2027.

The WRC27 ruleset, given the green light by the World Council in December 2024, has been undergoing its final refinements and updates over the past six months, and today the confirmation of the reference volumes for bodywork cements the commitment set out by the FIA to put flexibility at the core of these regulations.

To achieve this, the rules define a zone in which all of the bodywork panels must be located, but within this volume, manufacturers and constructors have the freedom to scale and integrate almost any design.

This crucial feature of the regulations means that, without effecting performance, cars ranging from saloons to hatchbacks, cross-overs and completely bespoke designs could be entered over the ten-year regulation cycle through to 2037.

The Canadian GP scheduling has nothing to do with the 500 and is entirely a consequence of all the Burgerstanian F1 races being in the south where they can't reasonably be run during the summer so your options are either wasting a silly amount of resources flying back for a single Canadian race or fucked up dates.

Basically May 3 is the latest you could run Miami without being a health hazard and May 24 is the earliest you could run Montreal without a possibility of getting snowed on. Like May 17 went down to 1 degree above freezing in 2023. It's actually a pretty shit date to saddle them with even, while it could be hot it's also very possible they end up racing in single digit temperatures.

Miami GP runs 4pm local time so the shidding and farding about TV overlap can wait until they actually announce that.

>>149098501
IndyCar's overseas TV rights are effectively worthless anyways. Admittedly the Indy 500 has less value here because of getting American networks on cable but even in Canada they almost have to give the damn things away even though it includes the Toronto Indy, and the only reason even F1 rights used to be worth anything outside of Europe before Netflix was including the local race. (ie. the Canadian GP in many years had more promotion on TSN/CTV than the entire rest of the season)

Do you mean to tell me that a race car driver wasn't completely happy with his car? In a practice session? I've never heard of such a thing!
What he actually said
>β€œLooking at pure [top speed] numbers, it’s difficult to draw conclusions,” Kubica told Sportscar365. β€œIt’s the way you get there that makes the biggest difference.
>I am pretty happy with what I felt in the car,” Kubica said. β€œIf this will translate into the start of the race on Saturday, I am not sure.
>The Polish ex-Formula 1 driver set the fastest time in the opening session of the test, and followed up with the third-fastest time in the afternoon, ending up 0.656 seconds shy of the benchmark established by Toyota driver Brendon Hartley.
>Ferrari’s top representative was the factory No. 51 car in which James Calado was second-fastest, 0.531 seconds behind the No. 8 Toyota in the afternoon session.
Those gaps are pretty fucking huge, even on a track as long as le Sarth, but I also don't think the engineers on any of the teams have the cars dialed all the way up.
I agree with Kubica that the LMDh feild is more competitive this year and I wouldn't be surprised if a Porsche or BMW sneaks onto the podium, but I really do think this is Ferrari's/Toyota's race to lose.

> TOYOTA GAZOO Racing unveils liquid hydrogen-fueled "GR LH2 Racing Concept" at Le Mans
- TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has unveiled the GR LH2 Racing Concept, a liquid hydrogen (LH2) fueled test car to advance the development of hydrogen technology in motorsports. It made its public debut at the Circuit de la Sarthe where it is being exhibited at the H2 Village, organized by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, during the 93rd Le Mans 24 Hours (11-15 June).
- It is based on the GR010 HYBRID Hypercar which currently participates in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Through future track testing, the GR LH2 Racing Concept will support Toyota’s continuous development of hydrogen technology and infrastructure, as well as helping build relationships to expand the possibilities of hydrogen through the challenge of motorsports.

It's not just in Le Mans, if you watch the rest of the MLMC races it's always a long string of safety cars or red flags with hardly any racing in between.
The problem is that the average skill level is very low, but the championship still awards a LM24 entry, so you get a really bad mix of total amateurs vs hyper combative drivers fighting for a spot in the big race the following year. It's an overall bad championship and it has always been like that.
I don't know how you could solve this problem, but at some point someone has to step in and draw a line on how bad your driving can be for such a "high profile" championship. After all, it's a full season ELMS side event and they get to race here during the 24h week so it's not like some crappy local cup race that nobody watches.

>>149118117
I'm a filthy phoneposter and I'm using an app to post here. It was fine until yesterday, I could post multiple times with no timer in between until I switched network or picked up a WiFi. In a rather unusual move the series promoter actually puts their money into the organising effort
There is a multi year contract also, so it wont be a one off event

Dave Sapienza has been denied an entry for the Modified Tour at Riverhead. I hadn't heard about this incident but it certainly sounds like something he would do.
>The original issue between Sapienza and Riverhead management began on April 27, 2024. Sapienza was attending an open practice that day at Riverhead. During the practice an official made a mistake in letting cars onto the track leading to Sapienza losing out on his round of practice.
>Sapienza exacerbated the issue on Sept. 14, 2024 when Riverhead was hosting the NASCAR Modified Tour Eddie Partridge 256. During the running of that event, Sapienza parked an aerial lift bucket on property adjacent to the Riverhead Raceway property. The bucket lift could be seen by those on the property at Riverhead for the event. The bucket had a cutout figure of Sapienza in it and displayed various signs through the night, some disparaging of track management.

It's a shame that people shit on LMP2s. Not as pozzed as hypercars and 'only' 10-11 seconds slower.
Also the chassis being identical makes the driver the biggest difference. Impossible to predict who will take class pole or victory.
kots Hungary No.149122471
>>149122281
thats within the 2% difference the BoP is aiming for. The rest comes from setup/driver skill/car driveability
I wouldnt be surprised that having a tuned down engine and converting a road car into a racecar fucked it's balance and driveability and they havent sorrted those out completely
