Everyone except the retards in charge knew this was a bad idea. The old club world cup got shit done fast, in a way that many clubs preferred. It was a meme cup, but it didn't bother much in december. Killing the confederations cup for this was always retarded.

Oh ok. I was surprised since no Swiss teams are going and I couldn't imagine even considering going there to support a non-local team, even before thinking about budgets.
Your post is the perfect example of how nothing about this tournament works. Europeans have little incentive to care, let alone go, to watch/support their club play against lesser known clubs when you already get to see that every season multiple times a week, locally, at better prices.
South Americans, Asians, Africans, etc. might be more interested to see their local team get smashed by Bayern, but the vast majority will be priced out and/or unable to enter the US.
And Americans obviously don't care.

and it's because it's globalist. they had to expand because of the tendency of the rate of profit to fall but it meant trying to branch out into a market so wide that it can't possible appeal any individual. there are things the burgeoning middle classes of shanghai lagos and kuala lumpur have in common but those things are exceedingly superficial . it works in dubai. it works in first class airport lounges and bulgari stores. you won't find it in sport. Urawa Red Diamonds is the most popular club. Located in Saitama, it's the most successful club internationally and in domestic cups, but falls behind on league titles. It's also the only Japanese club present in this year's CWC.
Kashima Antlers is the second most popular club. Located in Ibaraki, it's jointly with Hiroshima Sanfrecce the most successful club in league titles, and also has one AFC CL title. Together with Yokohama F. Marinos, they're the only 2 clubs to have never been relegated to J2.
Kawasaki Frontale is the third most popular club in the country, but had never won anything and had developed a reputation as huge chokers. However, they finally lost their league virginity in 2017 and have become decently successful since.
Yokohama F. Marinos as mentioned is one of the last two clubs to have never been relegated, but it seems this is coming to an end this season, as they're dead last halfway through. They're the second most successful club in the Emperor's cup, after Urawa.
Tokyo Verdy used to go by Verdy Kawasaki and was perhaps the most successful club in the greater Tokyo area, but it struggled with lack of support as the Kawasaki population mostly supports Frontale instead, so they moved to the suburbs within Tokyo proper and renamed. Moreover its owner (Yomiuri newspaper) faced financial struggles and pulled funding, so it entered a period of crisis and relegation. It came back to J1 recently and is currently a mid-table team.
Sanfrecce Hiroshima is tied in league titles with Kashima Antlers as mentioned. They also have a reputation of being really clumsy. They broke the original J league trophy (which was made of glass), and in one occasion they forgot the team's t-shirts, so they had to literally borrow replica t-shirts from fans to play lmao.
Gamba Osaka is the biggest club in Kansai. They will forever remind you of the time the scored 3 goals against peak ManUtd in '08 (Ronaldo was playing). They lost that match by the way.

Nonsense. The AFC, CAF and Concacaf each got 4 slots, and neither of our continental "Champion's League"s had repeat winners, so none of the teams got in through coefficients.
Coefficient DEI was only used with Conmebol teams (Boca and River to be precise) and UEFA (for every team other than RM, ManCity and Chelsea).

No wonder, our high performance during the previous presidency came at a cost, and the current one is now trying to fix the gigantic financial black hole they were hiding this whole time. With the prize amounts that are in play, any income is good income.
But in any case, the current Porto squad is the worst in the last 40 years, if Palmeiras doesn't top our group it might as well just be a humiliation to them. I think we might still grab second place though, I don't see Al Ahly making much of a dent, and even less Inter Miami.

FIFA has partnered with Miami Dade College to offer students discounted tickets for the FIFA Club World Cup, including the opening match featuring Lionel Messi's Inter Miami. Students can purchase one ticket for $20, with the option to receive up to four additional tickets for free, effectively reducing the cost to $4 per ticket. This initiative aims to boost attendance for the event, which has seen lower-than-expected interest. The promotion is available to students who can verify their enrollment at the college.
