I should have waited for this year's race instead of 2023.
>>149126936>I should have waited for this year's race instead of 2023.Nah, man. You have to do the thing when you have the chance. Besides, in 2023 we thought they would never be a real race car. Heck, hopefully, they will be around long enough for you to go back again.
BTW, how did you do your trip? Did you book everything individually, or did you get a package? Did you camp or stay at a hotel?
>>149127068Piece meal, hotel first because those are the first to run out, then ticket+campsite package through whatever UK ticket distributor was advertising via Radio Le Mans the year before.
Reminder that Dale Earnhardt had some serious, serious, big time daddy issues and was a shit dad to his kids
>>149123610>Fuck hybridBased.
I think that is one of the coolest things about GT3. Even cars with hybrid systems in the road cars had them removed from the homoligated race version.
If the NSX has been a turbo V6 only, it would have weighed less, cost less and sold more. Honda has lost the plot almost entirely and Toyota is eating their lunch.
>>149127478>whatever UK ticket distributor was advertising via Radio Le Mans the year before.Oh, yeah. I forgot about them. I don't think Hindhaugh would punt something disreputable, so I would feel good about that. Anyway, maybe you can do it again in a year or two if you start saving now.

Iโve decided to start following F1. Give me the qrd. Who are /ourguys/? Who are we rooting for and who do we hate?
>>149128707You're in the wrong thread
>>149128760Iโve also decided to follow NASCAR. Give me the qrd.
>>149128707>Who are /ourguys/?Either the guy front your country or whoever is winning. Whatever the case, you have to block out any criticism of them no matter how legitimate and blame the car and dog the shit out of all the other drivers and blame their car if they win.
It's all your basic divegrass logic, just with cars.
really trying not to place an order for a Brun Motorsport 962 kit.
it's hard.
>>149128779NASCAR is a uniquely interesting set of series in that straight up luck is legitimately 20% of the equation. You have to be a good enough driver with a good enough car to be there at the end, but you also have to be lucky enough not to get caught up in someone else's wreck or fucked over by meme restart and overtime procedures.
As far as picking a driver, just about anyone will do. You can pick a guy who wins a lot or a guy who has a livery you like. There are actually a lot of decent drivers and as Joey Lagano proved last year, you only need to win two races to win the championship.
>>149128824tamiya or hasegawa? either way both kits were originally made in the 80s so take that in count

>>149128965I had to do an in person meeting at the exact entire time of qualifying. I literally got out to check my phone as the last car took the checkered flag.
Fortunately, I got to see the practice session after, but of course, I missed Cadillac doing well. Ferrari and Toyota were pretty damn quick in that session, but at least Aston Martin made it to Hyperpole...
I'm actually really quite sad to see Peugeot doing so poorly. I mean, when it was Aston or Lamborghini or Vanwall, at least it wasn't a surprise.
>>149129002You are welcome. I always like to help the newfrens.
>>149128707The red pill for formula 1 is that itโs a constructors series and the drivers donโt do anything apart from steer the car. Also liberty media managed to ruin the greatest day in racing by scheduling the Canadian Grand Prix concurrently with the Indy 500 because they donโt give a fuck about history and tradition and shit
>>149128779>>149128779Rear field shitters are soulful except for bowman because heโs a shitter in a top ride. The red pill in NASCAR is that Toyota are the protagonists (and also RCR was, and will always be shit and were carried single handedly by Dale Earnhardt, not even Kyle Busch can win in those shitboxes inb4 Fontana)
>>149128921Kenseth won the Winston cup despite only winning one race and it assblasted Brian France so hard he came up with the meme for the Nextel/sprint cup and the memeoffs, all Logano and Elliot did was expose the memery that is nascar
>>149129422Sadge. Sucks when real life gets in the way of vrooms doesn't it? Especially during Le Mans week
I'm rather upset about the Proton only qualifying down in P20 and my guy Estre being relegated to the back of the field. Seems like Porsche's 20th LM win would have to wait another year at least
On the other hand, at least one of the Astons and the #83 made it into Hyperpole

It's been pouring for a few hours, like full on thunderstorm. Shouldn't last long enough to affect FP3 but who knows.

Not to mention the fact that they don't do any testing in between the races and their driver lineup is a few tiers below that of the works teams
I really hope they return to WEC next year but if they were disappear from the grid I wouldn't be too surprised, not least since they've already scaled back their IMSA involvement this year

Speaking of CART things there's a distinct chance that the new car being delayed to 2028 is the prelude to the new car getting killed off entirely when it becomes a single engine supplier spec series and everybody decides they are too broke for anything. That's how the IRL got 8 years of the previous shitbox too.

I'm glad that series died. They should have done it properly and they should have done it 20 years earlier. Ideally with proper manufacturer support and Ford vs Holden rivalry. Look at the Japanese SuperGT/Superformula for example.

They have shit top speed and they are making up their advantage in the Porsche Curves, but in the race most of the time you have traffic there so that advantage is lost, and the others will breeze past of them on the straight, with Porsche being like 10kmh faster than a Caddy with a little bit of slipstream

Pro-Am Privateer Hypercar Entries To Be Accepted For 2026/2027 Asian Le Mans Series
>Hypercar entries will be eligible for the Asian Le Mans Series from the 2026/ 2027 Series following โrequests received by some manufacturersโ.>The Hypercar entries will be for non-factory, privately entered teams only with Pro-Am crews consisting of at least one bronze driver and the additional high-profile category>โMaybe at the beginning we will have 2-3 cars, but we will improve every year. Itโs important to have private teams and not factory cars.โ>When asked if he was confident that manufacturers would position themselves to supply customer cars for the Asian Le Mans Series, Fillon gave DSC a very firm โYes.โ>โWe have to be very precise about which kind of Bronze driver will be eligible. You will have to have a minimum level of experience, of course.>โThere will be no obligations on manufacturers to have a presence in the Asian Series, but it will be open to all manufacturers,โ Lequien later clarified. โWe never expected the success of Hypercar to have this kind of success in WECโฆ But we are sold out.>โWhen we solved the idea of the Hypercar regulations, everybody agreed that they would have the possibility to do some customer racing. But I think you will agree with me, itโs going to be very difficult to have some additional private cars in the WEC as things stand, because the grid is full.Insanely based and I'm already looking forward to going to the Sepang 4H at the end of 26

>who are the /badguys/ we hate?Bubba for being a race grifter and Ty Gibbs for being a nepo baby and taking a top ride away from a better driver.
>Who is the GOAT?Probably Jommy Johnson, although saying that will irritate a lot of people.
>Are there any GOAT aspirants?Kyle Larson, maybe, but he's pretty far off the mark at the moment. Again, saying that will irritate a lot of people. A few years ago, you could have said Chase Elliot, but he isn't so hot lately. Conor Zillisch is a rookie you should absolutely keep your eye on. I think he'll be quite successful.
>What constitutes โmaking a nice playโ in Motorsport? Well, if you really pay attention to the race, you'll know it when you see it, but it's two basic things. One is using aerodynamics and momentum over a couple of laps to make a pass, but that isn't everything. The other part is long term race strategy. The really good guys will often give up positions pretty easily early in the race so they have the tiers and fuel at the end. Not beating up the bodywork and suspension is also critical.
The engineers and strategists (crew chiefs in NASCAR) , pit crews and spotters (guys on the roof of the press box tellingthe drivers where they are in relation to other cars) are all hugely important to the success of the team, too.
It looks really simple, but once you understand what's going on, it's actually pretty complicated.
IDK if you're just trolling or whatever, but I hope you enjoy vrooms. You should join us tomorrow for the 24 hours of le Mans. It's the most sacred event on the calendar and it is supremely comfy.

>>149161345>Decided to start following NASCAR and F1. Who are the /goodguys/ that weโre rooting for and who are the /badguys/ we hate? Who is the GOAT? Are there any GOAT aspirants? Like the Lebron/McDavid/Ohtani/Mahomes of NASCAR? What constitutes โmaking a nice playโ in Motorsport? What do I look out for?Currently in the cup series field the two goats in the modern era are Kyle Busch and Joey Logano. Busch drives the 8 car and it is a shit box and it sucks seeing Kyle suffer in the 8 car. Logano is in the 22 car for Roger Penske and has won the most championships in the post Jimmie Johnson era at 3 championships.
Making a nice play is usually subtle and takes a while to build up to it, like taking a tremendous amount laps to catch up the leader and pass him like how Ross Chastain took like 350+ laps to pass William Byron at the coke 600 at Charlotte motor speedway. Also the pit crew can make some banger moves like how Denny hamlins pit crew member caught the fuel can last race which would have been a penalty. As for good guys and bad guys just root for who you want, me? I like everybody but the 24, 5, 9, and 48 cars because FUCK Hendrick.
In formula 1 theyโre all bad guys who have no buisness being in the seat except for Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen

I strongly suggest you get your ad blocker game up to date, but we will have pirate sites and probably m3u8 links you can play in VLC and maybe even a bootleg YouTube stream. If you have a VPN (Urban VPN is free) you can set it to Indonesia and they get a free YouTube stream because one of the drivers is from there and his dad is super rich from owning the rights for KFC in Indonesia and bought the rights for the entire country. At least he did last year.

>>149162541Do drivers have primes and then they age out? Like, is Jimmy Johnson still racing like LeBron at 40 where itโs cool and all, but heโs not competing for a championship realistically?
>>149150604old school 70s F5000 wasn't far off F1 in terms of performance. it was effectively America's premier open wheel road course championship, because at the time USAC Champ Cars were ovals-only. Australia developed a taste for the ruleset as well to serve as a successor to the Tasman Series which itself was basically just an antipodean F1.
>>149162541Also, what are the storylines going into tomorrow? Whoโs the favorite? Whoโs up-and-coming? Also, are there like major tournaments like is tennis and has anyone won a Grand Slam if so?
>>149162854NTA but the triple crown is winning the Indy 500, Monaco Grand Prix (or the formula 1 championship), and the 24 hours of Le Mans. Only one man has done it (graham hill) and the two closest drivers were Juan Montoya and Fernando Alonso who both have won Monaco and the formula 1 championship, but Alonso has never won the 500, and Juan Montoya has never won Le Mans*
*he won in LMP2 but not outright
In terms of sports car racing, the triple crown is Le Mans, Daytona 24 hours, and 12 hours of Sebring, which most recently has been won by Nick Tandy.

>>149162711>Do drivers have primes and then they age out?Kinda. Of course ages takes it's toll, but there are are plenty of drivers over 40 out there and they ate still good, but they usually aren't going for championships.
>>149162854>Whoโs the favorite?NASCAR has about a dozen teams who can win it. I didn't watch qualifying, so IDK who is showing well in Mexico. Also, there isn't any history to go off of. I'm going to guess... Christopher Bell, he's pretty good.
Also, different teams and drivers are better at different tracks and while most of the tracks are ovals the length, shape, surface and banking make them all unique.
>Whoโs up-and-coming?Connor Zillisch is by far the best rookie.
>Also, are there like major tournaments like is tennis and has anyone won a Grand Slam if so?Most racing series have a points system that is totalled up at the end of the year and whoever has the most wins. Technically that means you could win a championship without winning a race, but it's extremely rare. NASCAR has a playoff system most anons, myself included don't like. There are a number of "regular season" races that pay points and are "win and your in" and the last dozen or so races are playoff races where everyone still runs, but the guys who made it into the playoffs are in an elimination race, so the bottom two or 4 get kicked out of the playoffs until the season finally when there are only 2 left and whoever finishes ahead wins. At least that's how I understand it.
I'm mostly a sports car and IndyCar guy so I'm not super knowledgeable about how it works. Here is a YouTube video explaining how it works.
https://youtu.be/p-GEmBSePLE
40 points for a race win
35 for 2nd, then descending by 1 point per position until 36th-40th where they are awarded 1 point. 1 point is awarded for fastest lap.
10 point for stage win, descending by 1 point for the top 10 and the end of the stage.
A race win awards you 5 playoff points and an automatic berth into the playoffs. A stage win awards you 1 playoff point. The driver with the most regular points at the end of the regular season/start of the playoffs is awarded 15 extra playoff points. (The next 9 drivers are awarded extra playoff points but I donโt remember how many). When the playoffs start, your regular points get set to 2000 PLUS your playoff points. So if you win a race youโll have 2005 points going into the playoffs. The top 16 drivers in points go into the playoffs, seeded by playoff points. The last 10 races of the season are the playoffs. The bottom 4 drivers after ever 3 races in the playoffs are eliminated from the drivers championship. At the last race of the season, 4 drivers compete for the drivers championship, and whoever finishes ahead of the other drivers wins the championship. You do not have to win the race to win the championship.

While waiting around for the start of Le Mans I found this absolutely priceless interview with legendary engine builder Ed Pink. In this video he's 92 years old but still razor sharp, and he goes into detail about the very last engine he would ever build: a 427 Ford SOHC.
Pioneering men like Ed Pink made the racing we loved then and today possible.

And Ed replies as if it's commonplace "that's the engine for a Porsche 917."

It gives us a lot of confidence that we can do the same job, and without a doubt, McLaren is the right partner. It does look kind of odd, especially since it doesn't really carry any typical McLaren styling Mans
>>149170582I'm thinking of baking it in about an hour if Germanbro hasn't done so by then
>>149170662I think he said 1h before the stream starts
>/turnleft/ (and right) and Lemons at the same weekend
What a wonderful time to be alive, frens.
Also, I've heard this week that Asian Le Mans Series will be having a class for hypercar privateers. Great news for sportscars racing, but I wonder how manufacturers will manage to develop and sell cars for them, since the costs are pretty high and I think some manufactures won't be interested on doing so.
>>149170624>donโt build the chassis>donโt build the engine>donโt even attempt to add any styling cues from the road carsNot disappointed this is exactly the sort of half baked entry Iโd expect from mclel
ganna take a nap, see you in 3 hours
>>149169848Wait until closer tonthe race
>>149169908>>149169920>>149169927>>149169979>SORT YOUR FUCKING SHIT OUT CADDY FFSUh, what happened? I tried to sleep in as much as I could so missed warm up.
>>149170624>The stunning new prototype from McLaren is a Dallara-based LMDh, powered by a V6 twin-turbo engine developed in conjunction with Autotecnica Motori (ATM).Is this some kind of Alpine A480-ish stuff? Interesting, I was expecting something better than that from Mclaren.
>>149170763Aitkin went off track on the first corner of his outlap and collected some scenery
>>149170673>Asian Le Mans Series will be having a class for hypercar privateers.Holy based!
Well, I think Porsche is probably the best positioned to supply cars since they have already helped run a bunch of privateer already and it isnjust something they have been doing forever. Other than that I really don't know who could really have a good chance at being successful.
I guess I'll sneak in a last picture before the total data blackout.
See you in a few hours lads!
>>149170793Nothing too serious, then?
>>149170673This makes me incredibly happy since I'm easily the biggest privateerfag around here and also because it'll bring Hypercar racing much closer to home. The Fuji round of WEC is the closest place geographically for me to watch top class Hypercar racing atm, but it isn't the cheapest or easiest trip to do. Sepang is much closer and easier on the wallet
Not to mention the fact that I'm a massive fan of customer racing in the top class a la the Porsche 956/962s in the 80s as well as the customer F1 GTRs and 911 GT1s in the 90s
Having some avenue for that when the privateer Proton's exit from WEC seems imminent makes me relieved to say the least
>>149170847Best of luck for the next 24 hours and have fun, Italybro!
>>149170867Think it just triggered flash backs of the same car putting it into the barrier on the first lap a couple of years ago.
Itโs a bad sign, you know. Foreboding. What the fuck is he thinking? I thought theyโd put these daft mistakes behind them
>>149170881>Not to mention the fact that I'm a massive fan of customer racing in the top class a la the Porsche 956/962s in the 80s as well as the customer F1 GTRs and 911 GT1s in the 90simmensely based, singaporeanon
me too
>>149170677>>149170772So you are saying Zach Brown is pinching pennies?
I'm shocked.
I'm pretty disappointed that the best constructor in the world is outsourcing so much of their sports prototype program. I guess I'm glad to have more participation in the prototype class, but McLaren really should have built an LMH car like their F1 brother Aston Martin and Ferrari.
>>149170847Totally based. Good luck, King.

kek
>>149170956I get it, but it's not like they have to rebuild the suspension or whatever.
Cold tiers are a bitch.
last pre-race check:
snacked up?
sipped up?
screened up?
>>149170881It will also provide an opportunity for privateer teams to get experience to maybe run in WEC and they will certainly have an automatic invitation to le Mans for the top team/teams in the series, so that's pretty cool.
>>149171090Itโs a sign of a bad mentality. Itโs an al harty tier mistake. You canโt win lemons with that attitude
>>149171092Did snack run a couple of days ago but might nip out before coverage restarts fo lr s sandwich and pizza for later
>>149163146For me it's all cars with Brazilian drivers and Aston Martin:
>#4 Porsche (Nasr)>#311 Cadillac (Drugovich)>#10 Aston GT3 (Dudu)>#31 BMW GT3 (Farfus)>#57 Ferrari GT3 (Serra)>#150 Ferrari GT3 (Toledo)

>>149171257kek
twitch streams work well as well
>>149171302I was watching the Le Mans Cup on it earlier and it was the world feed. It's Eurosport that chimes in with random integrations by their own
>>149171321yes please if you can
>>149171302you can always mute and play radio le mans in the background
>>149171092Sadly, I got a mucocele extracted yesterday, so I'll have mostly drinks and mild stuff to eat. No indulgent food for me this time.
>>149171302You can always use Radio Le Mans https://player.radioshow.limited/audioplayer.html
>>149171257Any non commentary stream ?
I just finished the second Mustang Challenge race.
I see that they saved all the major shitting for today, but that last lap was insane and that is the level of competition I think we can expect to see more of as this series gains momentum and attracts better teams and drivers.
Also, seeing Muniz second in class and 10th overall is pretty nice.
>>149171333>>149171339>>149171343thanks for the info anons, enjoy the race :)
>>149171298As much as I would love to see it, Ferrari have perhaps been the most vocal about
>The car is too complicated for a privateer program. It would be hella kino, though.
>>149171391they literally have unrestricted version for corse clienti shitting
>>149171251German bro will post one in one hour.
>>149171321>twitch streams work well as wellWhich twitch?
>>149171351I think there will be one on wearechecking
one is already up on yt
>>149171426just search for wec or le mans a few mins before start
>>149171426guess they'll just pop up with the right keywords, brand new accounts, good thing is that they won't have ads I guess
Thought I read a rumour a while back that BMW were considering selling customer cars
in the meantime, some rallycross and buggy in finland with english comms

>>149171450>one is already up on yt I'm guessing that's one of those scam streamers that shows the entire pre race then blocked the screen and tries to make you go to a pay site for a pirate stream.
I have seen it too many times.
>>149170662>>149170670>>149171251I gonna post one hour before the start of the race. So in 50min
