People pretend 1954 was some meme miracle story because Germany hadn't been on the international stage for 16 years. Fritz Walter for example could hang with Puskas and Kocsis (both ethnic Germans btw), but how could anybody on the world stage have known him before 1954? 1990 is always coped about because it was a shit final in total, but it's not the German team's fault that no one could beat them. The penalty was soft, but there were one or two other debatable situations that also could have been called. Germany clearly proved superior to Argentina on that day
