The last time a SA team beat an EU team was in 2002.
In 2006, all semifinalists were European.
In 2010, 3 semifinalists were European and 1 was South American. The South American team was placed last.

In 2018, all semifinalists were European.
In 2022, two semifinalists were European while one was from SA and another from Africa. The SA team drew against the EU team in the final while the other EU team was ranked 3rd.

Not true. Boca beat Real Madrid in 2003, Sao Paulo beat Milan in 2005, Inter beat Barcelona in 2006, Corinthians beat Chelsea in 2012. Flamengo drew against Liverpool in 2021, Palmeiras drew against Chelsea in 2022, Gremio drew against Real Madrid in 2017.

This was all in the post-season for sudacas after they had played a 70-80 games nonstop.
