Do Brazilian rivalries get put aside in cases like this? I'm hoping River gets gaped by Inter and I'm sure River fans and probably every other team to wants Boca to lose 15-0 to Bayern today.

No, Botafogo specifically is a team that everybody likes, apart from most fanatic Flamengo or Fluminense fans. If its Flamengo, Corinthians, then only their fans are rooting for them basically.

From what I've seen, most people, despite how much they hate their rivals, want to see as many South American teams getting out of the group stage.

I for one am a Vasco fan, I'm not rooting rooting for Flamengo, but I hope they go far and then get trashed preferably by another South American team

botafogo is not a supermassive team, it's like if a team like argentinos juniors or huracan was winning against psg for example, there's no reason for most people to be against them

Only Flamengo and Corinthians have haters enough that other brazilians would rather see them lose

Corinthians is just that big. If they were playing you wouldn't see anyone doing what they are right now. The rest are a bunch of NPCs and the big evil Palmtree.

Generally yes, barring specific rivalries like no way Corinthians fans will cheer for Palmeiras

You will never see a Grêmio fan supporting Inter, or a Corinthians fan supporting Palmeiras. Maybe Atlético and Cruzeiro fans won't either.
