6 out of these 20 clubs are actually just black and white.

Corinthians and Vasco have some details in red in their logos, but they don't use this color; they primarily use black and white for their uniforms and overall identity.

>Botafogo
Used to be a powerhouse in the 60s, became the smallest of the big 12, spent 50+ years being shitty until recently was bougth by an American and became a title contender. Currently has the best scout system in Brazil.
>Atlético Mineiro
Was a major contender in the last years and became very indebted for it. Got bougth by the debtors in a very shady deal. Rival of cruzeiro, dividing the Belo Horizonte fan base in half.
>Fortaleza
Its rivalry with Ceará is one of the biggest regional derbies in Brazil. Very overachiever in the recente years even with bad players because of a professional management. Sacked the coach recently and I dont expect them to mantain the high levei without him.
>Juventude
Underdogs, always punching up. Biggest weapon is the Stadium. Every team in Brazil fears facing them on their home, where it is always has heavy fog, its raining or with low temperatures. Probably the whitest team on série A rigth now.

Yeah, it was putting a lot of people off in brazil when it happened. People were expecting that it was going to happen what happened with Vasco, which was bought by a very scammy group of americans that didn't even actually had the money. But, somehow, the owner and the fans became very obsessed with each other, the guy spends a lot of time in Rio now, even sometimes participates in games sitting together and doing banther with the fans. He even broke his arm while skateboarding in a pre-game last year.

Botafogo found a niche market by using its scout system, a market path to sustentability.
>buy brazillians that are playing overseas and never reached full potential, playing in bad leagues or lower divisions
>buy latin americans that were not yet discovered by big markets in europe
>put them to play and develop fully
>sell when the big dogs starts bidding

Biggest drawback is that botafogo has the smallest fanbase of all big clubs right now, so if its not a big game, you can expect a lot of empty seats in the stadium.

Not so often as they used to. Sometimes they'll play the Florida Cup during our pre-season (your winter) but that's not very close to you. Best thing you could hope for is that Japan would host the Intercontinental Cup again, but that's unlikely given how much FIFA seem to love America and the Arabian Peninsula right now.

In Brazil, anyone can beat anyone in a match, it's currently the most competitive league in the world, no joke. It's the only place where you can win it all in one year and fight against relegation in the next. The problem is, as it is in every league, money. Flamengo is basically the Real Madrid of South America, has most money, best sponsorship deals, biggest fanbase, sells more tickets and merchandise, most favorable TV deals and etc. Palmeiras got a shitload of money in recent years coming from the new stadium, selling young players for massive ammounts and a pretty good patronage from a bank. You can expect them to dominate our tournaments in the next decade, together with maybe Botafogo, Bahia and RB Bragantino.

Yet, with a shitty squad + suarez + the power friendship, Grêmio almost robbed the title from Palmeiras in 2023, losing by a single point. But at this point I wouldn't not bet on Grêmio on winning shit, they are really in a bad spot economically right now and it will take a couple years for them to rebuild.
Anonymous Brazil No.149354621 [Report] >>149354667
>>149354577
Just remember that Flamengo is the Real Madrid of South America in everything except dominance and achievements. Real Madrid is leagues ahead every team in Europe and the world in achievements, Flamengo is not even close to being the best at anything, except most Carioca titles and never being relegated (which SPFC also never has been)
Anonymous Brazil No.149354667 [Report]
>>149354621
This only happened because Flamengo was in a similar position than Corinthians until 10 years ago, plaged by corruption and bad management. In any normal country, both Flamengo and Corinthians would absolute dominate everything in the continent and force other teams to swallow bad deals in favor of them. Good thing Brazil is not a normal country.

Nah chilebro, Palmeiras was founded by italians, not germans (same case as Cruzeiro). But, root for whatever grind your gears, whether it's because of the color of the uniform, the aesthetics of the shield, cool history or nice players. Tbh I only root for Palmeiras because my father did, these days I absolutelly despise the football of Abel Ferreira.

Everytime I hear a Palmeirense complaining about Abel and Leila, I want to shoot them. WTF, the best moment your team has ever had. I remember some years ago when Abel was going away and the fans kept talking about being great and wanting to get Vojvoda as fast as they could.
Football fans are truly ungrateful sons of bitches.

I understand them. Palmeiras are hard to beat but not particularly enjoyable to watch. Watching your wide players crossing into the box with a low success rate for dozens of minutes can be tedious as a neutral and frustrating as a fan.

Winning is good, but watching a Palmeiras game makes you dull. It's the most boring form of football conceived by man and I don't understand how other couches didn't figured out how to counter Abel. Every game is one hundred bad crosses to small players. The only fun Palmeiras matches to watch are the ones where the team starts the game conceding, I don't know how he makes but the players go full turbo and salvage the match. I had far more fun watching Fluminense 2023 libertadores campaign than in the last 5 years of my club, except by that 4-3 against Botafogo, in which Palmeiras played in a very unorthodox way thanks to Endrick.

I don't think he should leave, most Palmeiras fans talk a lot of shit. If he leaves we come back to the brazilian cycle of 3 managers a year and we're going to go back to middle table/relegation status.

Destiny, probably? Since he was born in São Paulo, the number of possible teams to root for reduces to 3 or 4. Also, when I was a kid, Palmeiras was very strong and stacked with amazing players like Rivaldo, Edmundo, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Paulo Nunes, Roque Junior, Marcos, Alex.

flamengo only exists as a good team because of globo too
fluminense, botafogo and flamengo were elite clubs mostly in origin (flamengo popularised itself though).
vasco is the workers team in rio.

palmeiras was an immigrant team (originally known as palestra italia), corinthians broke away from palestra italia, and sao paulo fc was the fusion between the remainders of the amateur club paulistano (the oldest club in brazil, founded by charles miller) and aa palmeiras (who supported the foundation of palestra Italia)
when palestra italia is prohibited from using italy in its name due to the war, they take over the palmeiras name from aa palmeiras.
sao paulo club origins are all sorta incestuous.

oh yeah definetely, racism in brazilian football became a much lesser issue very early

but fluminense had racist episodes that are notorious, as well as gremio, specifically

palmeiras had fascist sympathies because of the italian link, but largely abandoned that
