He doesn’t want to end his career yet, but Bayern will kick him out (despite initially saying he will be welcome to play for as long as he wants), which angered many people and even frustrated Müller, the super-Bavarian. Granted, he could have avoided all of this by accepting a salary cut. Many clubs seem to want him, but Müller is waiting. It’s very hard to imagine him elsewhere, and perhaps he’ll decide to let it be anyway. But so far, he said he’s not done yet
He‘s not in the very best shape anymore, but his strengths are somewhat timeless. He never was super fast or strong, but things like instinct and movement and the ability to score from weird positions are somewhat age-resistant. He could probably play for a bit more, albeit not on the highest level
