>>149588495Theyโre fairly smart, reasonably healthy, and extremely cute. Even though theyโre smart, they can have an attitude and be tough to train. As with other toy breeds, housebreaking them can be really tough and take a long time compared to most larger breeds.
There are a lot of terrible backyard breeders out there cranking out terrible Yorkies and other cute small dogs. Getting one from a good breeder reduces the risk of some behavioral problems. If you can, find a breeder whose dogs or their offspring have had some success in competition events like agility, rally, scentwork, or obedience.
I went to the national specialty show for pomeranians a few years ago and had a fun time watching them compete in obedience, rally, and conformation (conformation is what youโd think of as a typical dog show). Most breed clubs have something similar so this can be a great place to start if youโre ok with traveling and are really interested in yorkies. A regional specialty yorkie show would be good too. I met my pomโs breeder through a regional show. Regional or local dog all breed shows can be good places too although you should check the entrants on Infodog to make sure some yorkies are actually going to be there.
Hopefully this wasnโt too long or more than you wanted to know. Iโm pretty into dog shows desu
