Now that I think about it, I have NEVER heard of a racecar driver dying in a car accident on the road.

To me that's evidence that 99% of car "accidents" are avoidable if only people had absolute control of their vehicles. The problem is, driving schools can't teach that control let alone spatial awareness.

A blown tire should not suddenly send your car uncontrollably to the side of the road unless you're speeding like crazy and ignoring obvious signs of a sudden increase of pressure.

And in his case it's allegedly a puncture, which makes it all way more suspicious, a puncture shouldn't spin your car around suddenly. You still have three wheels with full contact with the surface.

Depends on which tire blows and if it's on the drive axle. Also braking with just three tires can do sketchy things too.
And he might have swerved from being surprised by the blowout, leading to the car becoming even more uncontrollable.

Yeah he had only rented the car and wasn't used to driving sports cars. It's easy to lose control.
