It is mostly theater but it definitely changed things. For one, you can notice that the drivers (illegals) here are driving way slower and more carefully and overall there’s less people driving. Personally, I know quite a few people that have left or have gotten deported (Florida).

What’s your opinion on cartel links? Specifically, what % of Mexicans are “linked” with the cartel? It seems like they’re getting a lot of people deported with cartel links (locally), but it seems like a whole lot of people. I’m not sure if they’re made up as an excuse to expedite deportation or if 20% of Mexicans are linked with the cartel for whatever reason.

Plenty of people have links to them, the rich, famous and influential, like singers, actors, or politicians, are more notorious for it. It's just a matter of if the cartel decides to announce it.

This will depend on the region you're in, as there are places where the cartel control is more evident, but be sure that any mexican could tell you a story about someone they knew that has interacted with cartels. Cartel links could be entirely made up to deport a lot of people, but it wouldn't surprise me if the agencies do know who has links to which cartel.
In my own experience, I live in a town where you can't really entrepeneur in any sort of small business since you're putting yourself in the limelight of the cartel, it's just a matter of when they're going to come asking for protection fees.

IDK man I live in LA and it’s not all theater here. Two weeks ago a guy rear ended an ICE car, blocking them in in a 98% Mexican town called Bell and it caused a riot. A week later they went to his house with tanks and military gear, exploded his door open and sent a drone inside. They’re raiding the same location multiple times.

The big picture here is that Trump is dead set on cleaning up LA before the Olympics. Right now the truth is the Mexicans think they run this state and the Democrats enable them to think that way so Trump is attempting to either force as many of them out as possible or scare them into compliance.
