Yes, specially in the North. I am from a nearby town of Diogo Jota's and I've never been to a funeral that happened over 48 hours after the deceased had passed. Diogo Jota's funeral is, in fact, taking a lot of time, no doubt because he was famous and died in a foreign land. Also, after the funeral, everybody goes away back home or to do whatever it wants. I see people in American movies going to the deceased family's house after the funeral to eat and I find it odd.
We usually have another mass seven days after, and then every month and aniversary, but not really mandatory.
