I played decent periods of time in Egypt, London, Spain, Saudi, Los Angeles and Utah. The average Mexican is a class above the average American, the average south American is a step above the average Mexican. Of course there are exceptions to every rule. Nigerians, Nafris and Arabs are by far the best skill ballers on average, but they don't pass ever and just want to pull off sick moves. They tend to not be good at anything else besides dribbling. Germans, Dutch, spanish and English are the best all arounders, very technical but they tend to play smart and actually pass instead of just score sick megs on every one. South Americans are the most creative, also usually try to dribble people like the Africans and nafris but they actually pass. Could be anecdotal but Spanish get the most angry when you meg them, I've had fights break out when it happens and my buddy got his ankle broken by a two footed revenge tackle in a pickup game after he megged a Spanish guy and his buddy.
I don't have much experience playing against frenchies but assume they're ballers and play like nafris and Africans because they're all from there. London had the highest level of competition I've faced on average. American gringos are the worst. And like I said Mexicans aren't great but their average level of ability is far above the average gringo American.

The average gringo American i play against, even the best ones, tend to be technically deficient but they run really hard and try hard. Many times they just stay in the back and boot it up the field to no one even when obvious easy passes are on. These are my pickup soccer anecdotal stereotypes. I don't have much experience vs east Asians or SEAs so can't speak for them. Indians and pakis are usually below the level of even gringo Americans.

I play in a league like that but in Los Angeles. There's a few random old fats but the majority are young fit guys who play one touch football. There are very few showboats, most teams in the league try to play tika taka like prime Barcelona but go gungho on counters whenever a break is on. Most players are Mexicans and central Americans, with a few random ex pro and semipro gringo and black Americans mixed in. I guess it just depends on the league and what type of Mexicans are in it. I will say every team is dirty as shit, I've had guys dive when im two feet away from them and the ref gives me a yellow, also every one is consistently trying to get away with dirty shit and elbows to your gut when the ref isn't looking- but I think it's like that in most leagues above AYSO level.

Were you there as an athlete or an expat, and if expat, would you recommend (I’m a basic bitch white collar professional, would happily pick up Arabic as needed)? Anyways, your experience checks out at least with my experience, though I do have to say lumping those European countries together is mildly generous for the English (but I completely understand and agree with your point). There’s a lot of English teams here and they share the same “direct” ethos as Americans soccer players, but obviously with more skill and iq. And to be clear, these are former D1 players or euro academy dropouts, not your average Englishman.

Right on with the Slavs as well, and I would argue this would describe them in other sports as well. Our CAM is a Slav who played professionally in Romania (and is still in his 20s) and man, when he has the ball you know you’ll maintain possession, and if you’re open in the final third, you’re getting the ball. I also played with a community of Bulgarians while living in Virginia and honestly, they are some of the kindest people I’ve met irl, and good ballers too!

First Mexicans and now this? You truly know how to make me seethe lol, this shit is the bane of my existence. I play as a RB/RWB (I’m actually a decent WB) but you can probably foresee my grievances. 1) Goalies would rather boot it than give me the ball (and we lose possession) 2) Usually the other rest of the back line and the goalie shit themselves with I try to pass to them from the back (hell, this was the case on an English-heavy team, they explicitly told me to never do that again, despite no goals given up from it) 3) There is no emphasis on possession, so we lose the ball quickly and I can’t make forward runs. When I do, we almost always lose the ball within 10 seconds. The fucking game on Tuesday, our useless gringo goalie would never pass the fucking ball to me, and instead boot it to where we constantly lost the ball. I had no passes to me the whole game to the point I subbed myself off because of “injury” (yeah ankle is sprained, but I could’ve kept playing). We went from 0-0 at 55’ to 4-0 lmao, honestly feels good to know that I’m the key to our back line, despite getting shat on.

Played semi-pro in Virginia during the coof and the teams were majority white d1+ level players, and it was all chill and respectful. Here (South Florida) I play with mostly South Americans, typically a mix of argentinos, uruguayos, colombianos, and venezolanos, and they def try to play tiki-taka but the play is clean, they just tend to flop and exaggerate injuries (embarrassing honestly). Now that I think of it, we have a young Mexicano and he’s really good, maybe it’s an age thing (old gen were retards new ones are slightly less so).

That is the environment mental marshmallow east coast softies Pulibitch and the Aaronson bros grew up in. This AYSO fairplay sportsmanship culture fostered by US Soccer is the main reason USA keeps producing such shit players. The one thing Mexicans and Central Americans have right is that the top teams that win world cups and tournaments like Germany, Argentina, Italy, Spain and Brazil are historically world class dirty cheats who do whatever it takes to win. Countries that consistently bat above their weight like Uruguay and Portugal do so by being dirty cheats. Fair play gets you absolutely nowhere in this sport.
