it's not referees
it's an independent regulator for football
so instead of the clubs deciding things amongst themselves a third party has oversight
premier league clubs see this as a threat to their ability to walk all over the football league

Regulating club ownership. The following is taken verbatim from the Government website: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/football-governance-bill-2024-supporting-documents/fact-sheet-the-independent-football-regulator-ifr

> Club financial soundness- to protect and promote financial sustainability of regulated clubs, ensuring that clubs take sensible financial decisions and consider the long-term when taking risks.
So no more Dai Yongge or Jason Whittingham bollocks where clubs are driven to the wall because the owner is a petty cunt

> Systemic financial resilience- to protect and promote the financial resilience of English football as a whole, ensuring that systemic risks and structural issues like the distribution of revenue through the pyramid are managed appropriately.
So that money generated by the Premier League doesn't just stop there and instead goes through the EFL and National League (what will happen below the NL is anyone's guess)

> Heritage- to safeguard the traditional features of English football that matter most to the fans and local communities of clubs.
So you don't get shit like MK Dons happening again or Cardiff having their colours changed to red.

That is precisely why the regulator was introduced: to prevent that from happening.

>who would they swap for Eze realistically?
According to the article, 'a defender'. It's the Sun, lad, it has no actual sources or info. But Arsenal cannot exchange a defender because they're trying to buy one (and Valencia are playing hard ball). Not only did Arsenal cancel Tomiyasu's contract but Tierney is gone and Zinchenko is expected to go. So they only have two LB's (both made of glass) and one RB (made of glass). So they're never going to swap a defender (and the only one would be Kiwior who was actually pretty decent filling in for Gabriel or Saliba I forget, I seem to remember had pretty good stats). So I think it's just the Sun making shit up unless CP accept Zinchenko + £55m.

>>149683380
I thought 24 but nope. He's in his prime. I think it is a stupid decision to buy him. If they're going to fork out £70m for a player go for Rodgryo.

The issue is United are offered £40m+£15m add-ons and then £50m+£12.5m in add-ons and they were clearly unrealistic add-ons (aka qualify for CL and win domestic cup and score 30 goals in a season for £5m etc). So they want a flat £60m+£5m (reasonable £5m). United will get it over the line, but it's just embarrassing that their media butt buddies said like 4 weeks ago the medical was booked and ready to go. People keep mentioning the £5m-£8m they're getting for Elanga being the reason they're waiting but sell on fees aren't instant afaik, they follow the same rules as a transfer, spread over a period of time. So they'll prob get £2m over the next four years or some shit.

While that doesn't mean more games, it's going to be difficult. But knowing Frank he'll do a Slot and turn them into challengers and they'll win the CL.

Not as bad as reporting on Zubimendi. BBC said £60m and just said £60m, no add-ons mentioned, yet Sky Sports said £51m. Yet reports earlier said £54m. It's ridiculous how that has varied but that's how the media works. Same shit with Liverpool. You even see shit like Football365's mediawatch seething that people are reporting Wirtz as £116m.

Brentford want £60m flat then £5m in reasonable add-ons and United will cave and look foolish for not just doing it six weeks ago and getting it done.

I think Man United should skip buying a striker this summer and put the money on a good midfielder and keeper instead.

Mbeumo, Cunha, Fernandes, and Amad are all xG overperformers so having a creative player like Zirkzee up front this coming season wouldn't be the worst thing.

I'm aware this post is gonna get clowned on here but it makes sense.

They paid a release clause for Cunha, release clauses have to be done instantly. You're also forgetting they have £100m to spend on instalments for players they have already bought (Antony, Zirkzee, Sancho etc). So that's another £100m gone. I don't think you quite understand. If United were flush with cash why are they linked with Vardy and DCL instead of Sesko or Gyokeres? Why aren't they dumping £70m right now on Gyokeres? Why aren't they spending £45m on Martinez for this GK they desperately need? Or even £25m on Maignan? Why aren't they signing Rios who has £20m release clause?

Don't reply to yourself. You either pay more to do it instalments or you pay the instalments instantly. United paid more as per the contract. They wanted to do 5 years, Wolves said fuck off, 3. So United agreed. Again, you dodged my question, if United are so flush with cash why aren't they buying Martinez? Over 5 years that's £9m. Yet they're not. Why aren't they buying Gyokeres? £70m over 5 years is £14m.

People can see the timer being posts and know you're replying to yourself literally a min apart. You've failed (again) to answer a very simple question - if United have money why are they 1. Quibbling over £5m for Mbuemo and 2. Not buying Sesko, Gyokeres, Etikike, Rios, Martinez and Ederson?

Is it because they have no money? But that can't be true because INSTALMENTS!

Mental how quickly Big Jim has fucking tanked this club and turned them into a complete laughing stock. I'd feel sorry for the customers but they'll STILL blame the Glazers despite them boasting about how Big Jim was taking over footballing matters and therefore the massive progress they made would be thanks to him. Except it's been the reverse of progress, it's been ungress, all thanks to Jim and still they blame the Glazers.

it's funny how hyped spurs fans are over signing a literal bum manager who isn't rated by any other club. united might be in a poor period, but the managers they've signed are serial winners at elite level of their respective countries. spurs have signed a manager who's biggest claim to fame is winning the championship playoffs lol.

amorim won 5 leagues/domestic cups in the netherlands. amorim has won 4. you can't fault the ambition in signing these managers. spurs are signing a literal who. you've always been a small club but holy shit this is a new low. complete lack of ambition. bum manager and no signings. meanwhile your london rivals are both making massive transfers to go for the league. you're aiming for top half at best.

the reality is arsenal are (domestically) one of the biggest clubs in this country, biggest in some regards (most fa cups for example). haven't won a league in a while, but just like when liverpool didn't win a league for 30 years, it didn't make them any less of a "big club". spurs on the other hand are smaller than fucking aston villa and everton when it comes to domestic leagues and such, and they don't realise their rivalry with arsenal is the only thing that makes them relevant at all. without arsenal they're as relevant as newcastle or any of those middling teams.

Yes.

The Football League wanted the top flight to reduce to 20 clubs from 22. To enable this, play-offs were introduced from the 1986/87 season. The play-offs back then worked like they currently do in Scotland, with the three best non-promoted clubs from the second tier competing to face the worst non-relegated club from the first tier. This led to the odd scenario of 1987/88 where the First Division was 21 clubs and the Second Division was 23 clubs. Despite being eventually reduced to 20 for 1988/89, these changes were completely reverted after the 1990/91 and the first PL season was 22 clubs. This ended up being reduced to 20 after 1994/95.

The additional recenr oddity there is 2019/20 when Bury went bust, so only three clubs were relegated from League One, one was relegated from League Two and three were relegated from the National League.

Why hasn't Arsenal gone for Kudus? £5m more than Madueke and arguably better and can play same positions. Why aren't they going for Rodgryo instead of Madueke or Eze? Can play anywhere up front but prefers LW? Why aren't they going for Mbuemo, same idea? There MUST be some dodgy insider trading going on with Arsenal and Chelsea, some sort of financial bullshit. Yeah Havertz massively improved at Arsenal but Madueke is going alongside Saka and Nwaneri. And he sucks on LW. It's a baffling signing.

Thanks for this! I am Texan, so I am not too informed of the Liverpool culture. I just love the football club. It helps me to understand the area more. I am going there next month, and the more I know, I think the better I'll get on while I'm there.

Almost sounds like there are some similarities between Liverpool/Ireland & Texas/Mexico. I guess the main difference being that Texas was Mexico until we won independence, and now, while Mexican culture is pretty ingrained into the state, it seems like the more it ingrains, the more many Texans want to fight them off. But I digress! Really cool, thanks so much for this!

Nah, talked about it before. Both will fuck off to AFCON next year. So it's better to move on during the transitional stage of the club, reinvest and pray. The external stadia and website media plugging the new UGLY AS FUCK KIT (Fuck Joma) have actively omit Bryan, Nørgaard, Wissa and Onyeka. So expect all four to be sold this window.

I honestly thought Forest would commit to trying for Wissa again, but they've been smart and decided to buy cheaper elsewhere. I don't think Spurs will pull the trigger until some of others like Richarlison and Bissouma are sold. Levy can't give the impression he has money now.

Wissa is the older of the two, so Spurs will likely be seeking a replacement within a couple of seasons either way. Frankly I don't think they need him with the youth prospects present that Thomas would want to work with (Including Spence, Johnson and Gray. All Ex-Brentford targets you cunts snatched from us) but when was the last time Spurs have a good transfer window?

Oh it's even worse anon. Joma don't have a UK website store still (got Ireland tho) and we're like one of five teams they provide for. So unless you buy via the club, fuck you. No other options to find the uniform or related gear. It's also far more expensive than the Umbro for less options.

I outright refuse to touch it myself. They don't even have stripes on the back, it's a red box! The fan groups tied to Brentford have already had a major moan about it and will be gone at the end of the 25/26 season as we revert back to out environmental campaign of one design per-two seasons. Praying we pull a Aston Villa and force a switch.

Are Sporting retarded? They just want £60m flat? They could have gotten £70m. Arsenal have 4 days to sort this out or they're not getting him because Arteta has said if there is no striker by 14th July there will be no striker. The 'experts' on Talkshite et al seem to believe Arsenal will just give them the £5m they want but this seems really retarded, especially when Gyokeres is giving them £2m of his own money.

Is that when pre-season starts? Seems kinda arbitrary. And also like a massive cope-out when they end up without a proper striker again. I mean is 5m really that huge for a club like Arsenal? I'm pretty sure Arteta wanted Sesko and when Leipzig told them to fuck off, they just puffed up their chests a bit and made it look like they were totally going to get Gyokeres but ultimately won't get anyone.

Oh apparently they offered €65m(£56m)+€15m(£13m) in add-ons. Sporting want €70m, no add-ons. So yes, Sporting are retarded. It's €5m, so give them the €2.7m and take Gyokeres €2.3m and you're fucking done holy shit this is autism.

>>149703004
Apparently. Leipzig didn't tell them to fuck off they said they wanted €100m for him because Ekitike was being valued at €100m so Arsenal said 'fuck off' and walked away.

>>149703016
What is difficult about what I said? Sporting don't want add-ons, no matter how much they are. Arsenal offered €65m+€15m which is €10m than the asking price of €70m. They said no. They want a pure flat €70m no add-ons, so despite the extra money and Gyokeres putting forward €2.3m of his own money, they said no. So the difference is actually €2.7m.

Still feels absolutely insane to me that 5m Euros (or 2.7m) is what's stopping the whole thing. Yeah, it seems retarded for Sporting to ask that but isn't it just as retarded if not more for Arsenal to not just pay it? Like yeah, obviously all 15m of those addons they offered aren't going to be met so they won't have to pay all of it but surely 2.7m would have have been met. And if they wouldn't be then it's no wonder that Sporting would say no thanks.

Honestly even 10m feels like chump change these days but at least it's a bit more understandable. A quarter of that feels like it should be a no brained especially if the part about it being 70m max with no add ons being true. Cause like I was said before, Sporting don't have to accept a 65m + whatever bid if at least 5m out of that whatever isn't 10000% guaranteed. I don't know how the PSR stuff works and I know Arsenal are also trying to get Eze and Madueke and maybe Rodrygo on top of all that but still. 2.7m. Euros as well so that's probably like 2.4m pounds. No idea how it works and I have no idea if the €5m is even the issue, the article just said it was. Granted it wasn't Fabrizio or Ornstein who are arguably the only people who have any credibility but it seemed odd that Independent was reporting it (who are usuall alright). My guess is if it is true Arsenal have some kind of internal hard limit for 'instant cash' type deals but don't for add-ons. I don't know how add-ons work for PSR. Are they counted in calculations internally but not officially? I assume they have to be.

I guess they technically have to be counted because it's money that has to be "put away" even if it likely won't be fully used? So I guess it would count for PSR limits.
