>Chinese netizens reacted with embarrassment and frustration to the men’s national soccer team’s 0-7 loss to Japan in a World Cup qualifying match, with some calling it a “Day of Humiliation.”

>"Ah! It's simply embarrassing to talk about. As a Chinese, I am ashamed,” sports enthusiast Zhao Xiang told Radio Free Asia. “This is practically a joke.”

>"Why can't we solve these problems?” he asked. “I don’t think the physique of Chinese people is an issue. Koreans and Japanese are also Asian and they make it to the (World Cup). Why can’t we?"

Japan is one of Asia’s strongest teams, competing in every World Cup since 1998. Meanwhile, China has only managed to qualify once, in 2002 – so getting beaten isn’t terribly surprising.

they don't do well on team/field sports in general.
Also i don't think football is really that popular there compared to games like badminton, table tennis or basketball

China needs to create or have their own sport and dominate it. And then be content with that.

Why would you go out of your way to start from scratch trying to get good at something others are already obsessed with and masters of it? It’s such a cucked mentality of trying to do what others are doing that stems from their central government trying to generate “le soft power”.

Also, the US didn’t qualify for the soccer World Cup for 40 years and literally nobody here gave a fuck. It wasn’t until the internet, media, and moneyed interests began pushing it that there was a drive to “get good at soccer”. This top down push probably creates an inferiority complex in many eurofag loving Americans and Chinese. Why does anyone care in China care if their soccer team sucks compared to Japan? Because their media and government tells them to.

I was an exchange student at Tsinghua recently and won Gold in their year long campus wide football tournament for the Social Science team.
The Uni calls itself THE sports university of China and has a record number of Olympic Gold medal athletes as students and teachers, but do these gooks suck at football its incredibly.

My biggest criticism: They have zero understanding of the internal workings of the game; zero sense of a team working in cooperation or at least a core of 3 or 4 working together at a time to set some play up. I don't hate Chinese people, but they really are like fish in a swarm.

Population does not outright mean a higher percentage of talent. America has the infrastructure to dominate at the sport ten times over, but it does not have the level of care or passion because they already have choice.

Little Timmy can do American Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Tennis. And that's just the cusp of it. F1 has been Americanised, you've got other forms of motor-racing like NASCAR too. America has it's own Golf division that Euros have flocked too. Than you've got the niche shit like Skateboarding and the various Olympic approved contests that can get you major college grants. Hell I haven't even listed the combat and bodybuilding sports sectors.

Now compare that to someone in South America. The infrastructure is decades behind, the monetary factor to do most of the sports listed above isn't viable. And it has the culture pre-implimented to care. With Football, you just need a ball. Your jacket, rucksack. Hell whatever you can find. Assign it as makeshift posts and you are good to go. Now imagine Ricardo asking for a new 3 Wood for his Birthday. It ain't happening.

India is another good example. Billion plus of them and the best prospect they ever had was a mutt called Michael Chopra. And despite wanting to play and represent India, the Indian Football Federation said "NO BLOODY BASTARD BITCH, YOU NEED TO BE IN INDIA TO PLAY". Because even if you took all the mixed mutts or 2nd/3rd gen migrants who COULD represent some of these nations, the affiliated groups involved are sometimes firmly against it. Oh and they've got Cricket.

The biggest hurdle that China (and some other nations) is facing is that the systems involved to develop and showcase players from a young age is just outright corrupt. Parents playing pretend coach and bribes being all too common. And even if you was to fix all of that, you'd have to next come to terms with Hong Kong likely having most of the prospects worth a damn

team sports require some level of social skills to navigate the incohesion of human relationships

its why brazil is good at team sports like volleyball and soccer because they are a sociable people where as asians are more conditioned per culture to respect each others space (instead of enabling others to do something different)

if you cant let and work to make your best shine and all deone like, youll have drone teams that don’t make use of internal
cohesion to deliver something more

tl;dr they lack power of friendship
