Garbage format with many flaws, fuck FIFA
But: South Americans made it fun with their passion. A tournament with only the Europeans would be useless, we already have that. I understand the hype generated by having all these big names in one tournament, but I still prefer the old format for its clarity

Cool, now you can choose between various European clubs, amazing. Just what everyone needed, woah. CL? Never heard of her. And hey, having four-year-cycles makes it even better! After all, who wants clubs to be there because of actual team merit instead of things won by completely different teams? Guess you have to be lucky to still be on your high when this super event takes place. Oh, you were the best three years ago, but now you are in an overhaul phase? And there was no epic CWC that year? Hm, too bad. Bonus points for the amazing selection of participants, Salzburg really was an asset, as opposed to *checks notes* Burcaluni? Lawerpol? No idea. And the additional transfer window really was great as well, wow
Seriously now: yearly tournament. All the continental champions. That’s it. That’s how it is supposed to be. Who is supposed to be there? The continental champions. Easy. You get the best of the confederations, that’s what intercontinental competition is there for. No need for „hey, here’s some more clubs for you, just don’t ask us about the sporting value, okay? Have fun with UEFA finals forever“

Call it the International Champions Cup 2 and make it officially a preseason event
sponsored by TikTok. Then it’s fine. Just don’t pretend it‘s an actual sports tournament
And how about more burger stuff? Let’s make star players throw chalk into the air like LeBron

Change it to 8 groups of 5 teams
>UEFA (12 teams)
- Last finalists from the past 2 finals (4 teams), directly
- Next best 8 by ranking, limited 2 per country ignoring the first 4 (8 teams)
>CONMEBOL (8 teams)
- Last finalists from the past 2 finals (4 teams), directly
- Next best 4 by ranking, limited 2 per country ignoring the first 4 (4 teams)

>CAF, AFC (3 teams each, 6 in total)
- Last finalists from the past final (2 teams), directly
- Next best team by ranking
>OFC, Host (1 team each, 2 teams in total)
- Last champion

it'll be seen as the biggest club tournament within 2 cycles.

the biggest thing it's done, outside of making South American and Saudi teams look half-decent, is re-establish Chelsea on the world stage. putting the financial rewards to one side, the world, especially South America, is perceiving Chelsea as globally relevant again. players from South America see Chelsea as arguably the biggest club in England. very few people remember Liverpool are English Champions, Arsenal are completely irrelevant, United basically don't even exist.

I disliked the old format because SA and Euro teams basically were having a glorified training session as a Semi-Final, and then the Euro Team dogwalks the final. At the very least the original 8 team CWC should've been an 2 groups of 4, runner up and second place for the Semi-Final and then the final.

Old club world cup was better
no filler, just champions + host country's club that won the league
it was during the season, in december
quick and easy

Current one is retarded because of the criteria to get in.

>Boca and River Plate are 100% in with convenient criteria. Realistically, they are in no way the best teams in Argentina.
>Inter Miami in because of the MLS Supporters' Shield instead of the MLS cup...lol
>then you remember Inter Miami didn't win the MLS Cup. TOP KEK.
>the MLS teams fucking sucked too
>numerous group stage matches drew like shit, even Boca struggled when moved out of Miami
The real kino was in the knockout stages, but that just makes the main point stronger: just skip the bullshit and go back to the old format. Knockout rounds.

You are completely right, that's what everyone said about Chelsea. They were in the Cup for something they won 4 years ago, and now they aren't a shadow of that team.
Remind me again, in which round they were eliminated
>All the continental champions. That’s it. That’s how it is supposed to be.
Again, right in the money. I'm sure you can ask every Fluminense fan which one they enjoyed the most, 2023 where they were runnerups or 2025 were they were only semifinalists.
10 out of 10 will tell you the 2023 had more value, bacause obviously playing a final is better than not playing it
And the PSG, what is more valuable, this cup or the intercontinental in december? I'm sure they will tell you the intercontinental because they only had to play continental champions and the competition wasn't diluted by non-continental champion shittera like Bayern or Real Madrid

40 teams then?
>UEFA (12 teams) + CONMEBOL (8 teams) + CONCACAF (4 teams) + CAF, AFC (6 in total) + OFC, Host (2 teams in total) + Last champion = 33

The previous format made more sense, even though it was another irrelevant tournament for Europeans.
I think it would be a good idea to keep the old format but do it every two years with two clubs from each federation.
