Why did they give up on hosting the world cup? Are they right?

It needed a 15,000 seat stadium expansion for what would functionally be 3 matches. Politics is local.

Oh boy, this means FIFA can add one more host country with a single stadium? I'm for Rwanda
Regarding Malaga: it depends on how much work they'd have to put in and how many games you host. I can imagine this entire endeavor simply not being worth it in their specific case. Normally, pulling out of World Cup hosting is a dumb idea, the publicity and infrastructure gains as well as visitor numbers are worth quite a bit

Spain alone can't host a 48 team World Cup
World Cups should have 32 participants, not more and not fewer. It's a good balance between the necessary exclusivity for quality's sake and the equally necessary good representation of all continents. It also means countries can host it more easily without this multi-host bullshit
There should only be one host in general, exceptions being two (not three or more) neighboring countries that share a lot of culture, aren't too large, and are incapable of hosting the World Cup on their own
In other words: 2030 should have been either Spain alone or - to make an exception from one of the rules for the sake of the 100-year anniversary - Argentina and Uruguay. Argentina could host a World Cup alone, but Uruguay hosted in 1930 and won (against Argentina), that can be honored on this special occasion. I would have given it to Argentina and Uruguay because of the jubilee
But noooo, FIFA actively had to ruin everything with their megalomania. And they ruined the anniversary on purpose to pave the way for the Saudis in 2034

There's nothing to be ashamed of, FIFA being faggots isn't your fault. We'd need a significant overhaul for such a World Cup as well, despite "only" having hosted the 32 team one 20 years ago

I think they can but I agree with everything else. 32 teams. 2030 should have been Argentina/Uruguay, 2034 Spain, and 2038 can be Saudi (also it has to be June/July, just make every stadium indoors)

Based Hans

32 is also a power of two, meaning the groups of 4 will have only two teams leaving them, avoiding shit like "x best third placed teams also qualify". That way a team won't qualify with results like 3 draws

I am not entirely sure, but I think FIFA demands
>16 modern stadiums (pure football grounds without running tracks very much preferred) with a minimum capacity of 40,000 seats
>final stadium capacity of 80,000 or more, semifinal capacity of at least 60,000
>as evenly distributed across the country as possible, anything above two or at the very most three stadiums per city is frowned upon nowadays
>plus modern training facilities and accomodation spaces for 48 teams
I can't imagine Spain fulfilling all of these requirements since Germany has only 16 stadiums of that size - and that's with the rather old and unfitting Olympic Stadium of München. Keep in mind: Germany hosted a World Cup in 2006, the Euros in 2024, and the Bundesliga and the 2nd Bundesliga are known for their very impressive stadium viewership
I think Spain has ten fitting stadiums as of now, and two of them have running tracks as well. They could build or expand so that they can host alone, but it would be a large investment and likely not sustainable for the involved clubs. 48 is too much
Anonymous Germany No.149752145 [Report]
>>149752055
Exactly! That's one of the most terrible things about it. Cross-group comparisons based on goal difference (or worse) as tiebreakers when the involved teams have played against three completely different opponents
If schedule and fatigue were to play no role at all, the only way to save a 48 team World Cup would be 8 groups of 6. But it's retarded anyway

You cant lose money if you dont have the money.
That's the real answer, the olimpics and this tournament are crazy fucking expensive, many countries dont want to host this bs anymore

Malaga is surely one of the dodgiest places in western Europe, mafia ruled through a deep corruption net managed from the shadows by far right lunatics.
I imagine they didn't have an agreement on percentages under the table, briberies and so on. There must be many pissed off scumbags at missing this chance for a quick and easy fortune.

>You cant lose money if you dont have the money.
You can get in deeper debt not giving a fugg because you know from the start that you are never going to pay it off. Plus, you get all the obscure funding for infrastructures and so on. If you are not too greedy you can get away with fat money in Caiman Islands, and on the other side your name clean from legal responsibility.
Cant believe I have to explain this to an argie.
