Remember when Sammy Smith went full retard for a few days? Since then he's made exactly zero headlines, while still running well and getting solid finishes. If there was a template for how to quietly back out of the limelight, he's done it this year.

/turnleft/ has lashed out at me for suggesting in the past, but I really do see some joint JRM/Trackhouse venture in the near future. Obv chassis and engines for JRM are built by HMS, but Trackhouse works their pit crews, and the driver agreement was with Trackhouse this year. There's also the fact that Jr and Marks are both owners of the Cars Tour. Could be a sign of overall Chevy collaboration, but Jr is likely to build with someone his age like Marks, than someone twice his age like Rick.

Is it true that Zilisch was discovered at a go kart track by Kevin Harvick when he was racing Keelan? Cuz that seems kinda unbelievable? I guess the story goes that Kevin was so impressed he got him connected with Marks and the rest is history. How are there not team scouts monitoring races for talent?

When I was in high school, I made a huge pitcher of country time lemonade and stored it in the fridge over night. When I got home from school the next day I made a huge glass of ice cold lemonade. After only like 3 sips, I was puking my guts up. So I checked the lemonade container. In the fine print below the ingredients it said, WARNING: Do not store in metal pitcher. Well... The lemonade I made sat in a metal pitcher all night and had me throwing up real fast. My only guess is that the acidity from the lemonade eats away at the metal in the pitcher and our bodies aren't designed to ingest it. Needless to say, I never made lemonade in a metal pitcher again

True story. When I was a kid, this friend down the road was the son of a dirt tracker (local Kentucky tracks nothing on any radars). But he built a little dirt track in his backyard and built 2 go karts for us to have fun with. It eventually turned to 4 when my dad and budy's grandpa threw in some money. It was the most fun I ever had in my childhood, especially when we raced in the mud. Nobody ever got hurt, but for like 2 years me and the boys lived the coolest life imaginable.

>The Sebastien Bourdauis-qualified entry has been handed a one-position grid penalty for the fifth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship for โimpedingโ the No. 93 Peugeot 9X8 of Paul di Resta during a fast lap in the qualifying session.
>A statement from the stewards read: โAfter reviewing the video evidence, the Stewards determined that at Turn 12, Car 93 was sufficiently impeded by Car 38 to constitute the offense of impeding.
>โHowever, the Stewards concluded that the impeding was not the result of a deliberate action by Car 38.
>โNevertheless, the driver of Car 38 was in a position to move aside before the braking zone at Turn 12 and should have done so to allow Car 93 to pass.โ

Im a dirt track casual and the door banging is one thing I really like about late models. The excitement of watching a sprint car flip over the fence starts to wear off after the first dozen times. I like sprint cars just fine, but the margin of error is much smaller. It's not better or worse, just different.

I would also like to say I think it's pretty cool that an anon from Argentina is so interested in a racing style that some of the good ol' boys at work participate in. Same for the Portuguese anon in2 NASCAR or Singapore bro who is so in2 sports cars and the Vietnamese anon in2 bikes and on and on. This is a pretty neat place.

>stainless steel is safe
So, IDK if this reaction can happen with the acidity in lemonade, but
>Hexavalent chromium, commonly referred to as "hex chrome," is a toxic form of chromium that can be produced during the cutting or welding of stainless steel. This occurs because the high temperatures involved in these processes cause the chromium in stainless steel to oxidize and convert into hexavalent chromium.
Hex chrome is a known carcinogen and can pose serious health risks when inhaled, including lung cancer, respiratory issues, and damage to the kidneys and liver.

Based beyond belief.
In my town there is this one house you can tell used to be out in the country but a neighborhood grew up around it. It had a really big front yard and this kid used to ride his mini dirt bike around in a loop. Over time, the kid, the bike, got bigger, and the track got more complicated with jumps and turns until eventually he wasn't there anymore and the yard took over. Dang ol' cat's in the cradle, man.
I haven't been by there is a coons age, maybe I'll go check it out.

Well, that's your problem right there. At least the jannies recognized it was kind of bullshit and made it a tiny penalty. Still, I hate to see two of my favorite teams having a conflict before the race even starts.

Challenging conditions my bollocks you corporate shill bald faggot, The track was fully dry and a perfect cool summer temperature for racing, Just come out with the truth for once that michelin are a shit tyre company and their tyres are the reason why only 10 out of 18 riders finished the gp and why the current champion hasn't even completed a race all season as he got fucked from injury because of a dodgy michelin tyre that couldn't retain heat properly and he got fucked off the bike from it.

A total Elon fan fag and all that. He's always looking for people to visit him (probably because all the locals hate him), but if I was to visit him, what would be a fun race/car related thing to do?He lives on the south shore, in Ponce, I think. I like sports car racing, but I love everything, dirt track legends, motocross, boats, whatever. I know from your posts there is a healthy drag racing scene there. That would be great. Is there anything else?

While I'm at it, might as well drop this one, too.
An old Irish World War II Spitfire pilot and flying ACE, was speaking in a church and reminiscing about his war experiences. "In 1942," he says, "the situation was really tough. The Germans had a very strong air force. I remember," he continues, "one day I was protecting the bombers and suddenly, out of the clouds, these Fokkers appeared."
There are a few gasps from the parishioners, and several of the children began to giggle. "I looked up, and realized that two of the Fokkers were directly above me. I aimed at the first one and shot him down. By then, though, the other Fokker was right on my tail."
At this point, several of the elderly ladies of the church were blushing with embarrassment, the girls were all giggling and the boys laughing loudly. The pastor finally stands up and says, "I think I should point out that 'Fokker' was the name of a German-Dutch aircraft company, who made many of the planes used by the Germans during the war." "Yes, that's true," says the old pilot, "but these fokkers were flying Messerschmitts."

That would imply IMSA teams have sponsors. Wayne Taylor explicitly named Road America as being the most financially worthless race on the calendar as a team owner when they were still going to Mosport so it's just Nascunt and their insistence on worthless dogshit events like the Indy 6 hours.
>current GTP schedule is 4 races owned by Jim France, 3 races owned by Roger Penske, and 2 other
lmao
Watkins Glen should not be 6 hours and only continues to be due to Jim France's ego, Road America doesn't need to be more than 4 hours, and then you can easily add at least one more GTP race as well as bring back fucking Lime Rock the fucking cunts.

Is it time to declare Dinger a washout in Cup? This is his second attempt at a comeback, and he's still suffering. He could have a decent career in Xfinity, he was whooping all comers when he got busted back down the last time. I'd rather see him excel there than continue this Kyle Busch-esque pain carousel.

So by next weekend FRR and 23XI will be open cars? This is going to turn into a shitshow for them. They could win some races, run well, and still lose money. And how do you justify fielding the 35 or 4? Both are shitters and not worth the loss. I suppose sponsors will play a roll, but some could probably bail out in the absence of a charter. All time retard move by Dennis.

I think Herbst still has to pay for his seat so that's an income stream they'll want to keep around.
Denny says he wants to turn a profit but he burns money recklessly, the price tag on their vanity race shop was like 650 million with a ton of frivolities like 23 degree tilted windows and a sneaker museum. Maybe they shouldn't have put themselves so deep in the red right at the beginning that now they have to sue the governing body for more money.

They should have just signed. Make the playoffs and make money man, it's not that difficult. Signing Herbst to a pay deal is a very bad look for Toyota tho, even worse than him getting bumped out of a race by Legge. Look at what Chevy, particularly Trackhouse, is doing with young talent. Go get winners and game this system. NASCAR doesn't reward top 15s and good points days anymore, you gotta win races.

Front Row and Tardson too. He can only win fluky plate races, everywhere else him and his team will be outclassed. Trackhouse is really ahead of the game here, and they didn't just nab the best road racer on the planet, they signed the child prodigy who can beat him. There's a whole bunch of dudes who make no sense in their rides, for this system. Austin Dillon, Dinger, Bowman, Herbst, Wallace, etc.

If they can keep charters, then it's lucrative, but it's still an awful look for TRD. How is Trackhouse and Chevy signing EVERY young prodigy, while they're signing rich dad pay pigs? I mean Trackhouse even let Hocevar and Zane go, two young guys who have shown lots of speed. TRD pumps all this money into the sport, but their only prospect is a guy who got bumped out of a race by Legge. I like Heim, but he isn't in the same stratosphere as Zilisch.
Chevy development and Trackhouse is winning this version of NASCAR and it's not even close.

there are a shitload of unfulfilled promises the promoter made about rallytv in the recent years. My feeling is that the owners of wrc promoter (redbull and that K1 or something) stopped investing and just doing the bare minimum since they started to look for a buyer start of this year. They finished the developments and tasks they were in the middle of (new app, website, new game publisher), and since then they are waiting for the sale to happen and nothing is happening.
Supposedly the app should have got a lot more feature back by now but not even chromecast is available

I bought a band shirt and it was one giant square patch, even the black part that should just be blank shirt, so it's a big plastic sticker on my chest that gets all sweaty and gross if it's even a bit warm.
I bought it so I wouldn't wear out the original I bought at a concert, but it's pretty crap and I never wear it. YMMV.
For $5 or whatever, it's worth the risk, IMO.

A MEGA huge tip to buying any chink shit is to look at the buyer uploaded photos. Or, for watches, check out YT reviews. (Alie Express has amazing cheap watches.) You can get a much better idea of what to expect in the mail by looking at buyer images than the sellers photo shopped or straight up fake images.
If you do roll the dice, I would be interested to know how it goes and especially the seller you got it from if it goes well. Oh, and be careful, Asian sizes are legit 4 or 5 sizes smaller than European/American sizes so make sure what sace they are using.

Listening to Denny talk about SVG on his podcast is something else. He said that street courses and other road courses where cup guys had little to no experience is one thing, but that he was sure Sonoma would level the playing field cuz of SVG's lack of experience there, and all the laps cup guys have had there. He said Cup guys were sure that they knew how to attack the corners there to make speed, but that SVG shows up and shows that they really didn't know shit. Also pointed out that SVG was never really pushing hard, that the gap is massive and nobody in the Cup field is close to him.

Whistleblower statutes exist for exactly this purpose. Now, being a French company, maybe such a concept is foreign to them. But even if they do have such protections, if everyone's happy making money, nobody's going to rat.
I guess the question is if the Cup garage catches SVG on road/street courses before he catches the garage on ovals. And he doesn't even need to win ovals, top 15s and 10s and he's juggernaut. Tho obv, for a ship, he's gonna have to have winning speed on ovals, cuz they'll never decide a championship on a road course.

With the broship between Trackhouse and JRM, Marks should offer SVG for any and all road courses they want, with the caveat that they give him a few ovals. In the old days I think he'd have it figured out by now, cuz there were multiple days and several hours of practice before every race. But they get 20 mins now and 1 set of tires. It's really freaking hard to learn. With enough oval reps he'll be better than most of the field. He's that talented of a driver.

Also, the bigger issue for him and Trackhouse on ovals is their Saturday speed. They are always qualifying 20 or 30+. In this car, that's a massive defect. Ross is good enough to carry his car, but not a lot of guys are. If SVG was qualifying in the top 10, I think he'd probably finish there more often than not. His lap times are solid at the end of pretty much every oval.

dont want to discredit svg but we havent seen anybody with high level international titles under his belt to take on nascar (which under the frances wont really change ofc as they are doubling down on eroding nascars credibility even more).
He is among the global current top 30 for sure. He is a bit like the forward who dominated 1-2 second leagues but we've never see him properly had a go in the big leagues, so we don't know if the overall level of nascar drivers that bad on road courses (ofc they are not bc muh america) or we actually witnessing the best driver taking on a world masterclass performance

So, as I understand it, the Cup car is 300 lbs heavier and has about 50 hp more than the Supercars car. The biggest difference is the width of the tiers, which are wider on Cup cars. Neglecting chassis and aero (which is a huge thing to neglect) I'd wager the Cup car might be a tiny bit more forgiving, but probably not enough to make the differences we are seeing. I really think it comes down to experience. SVG is still pretty mid on ovals while we have quite a few drivers who are quite good on them. I would be interested to see how top tier GT3 and Hypercar drivers manage a NASCAR race on a road course. I mean besides Hawksworth. He got 15th in an Xfinity race at Mid-Ohio and 6th in a Trucks race at COTA, so I don't think you can take much away from that.

How often do bad crashes occur? All the people just hanging by the side seems like a good chance for a power slide into 'em

> How often do bad crashes occur?
in the top level they are not that frequent, and being somebody hurt is even rarer (ofc smaller crashes like kissing a wall with the butt of the car or a ditch is more frequent but they usually not a cause for retirement)
In the lower tiers and leagues its more frequent but fortunately people rarely hurt
> What's the guy on the side telling him? Where to turn?
Distance to the next turn, how sharp is the next turn, anything to be aware (is the turn becomes tighter, dont cut, slippery, etc...) and things to look out like jumps, bigger stones or changing in surface
Before the rally the driver and codriver goes through the stages in road speeds and they make the pacenotes
You would think it might be not that important but frequent cause for crashes are too optimistic pacenotes
Also the codriver is the "brain" who is doing a lot of administrations between the stages (rallying is heavily dependent on that you have fixed times when you need to start the stages, check in to timing posts, etc) and looks out for everything going as it should, so the driver only needs to think about driving
there si a good primer on rallying on wrc's yt channel

Toyota's plan to run rare Fuji F1 test with Haas explained
>A rare Formula 1 test at the Fuji circuit in Japan will be held by Haas in August as part of its technical partnership with Toyota.
>Haas only started running an old car this year because it lacked the funding and human resource to have a test team in place.
>But as Toyota wants to use its Haas alliance to develop its own drivers as well as engineers and mechanics, it has facilitated extensive TPC running with the 2023 Haas.
>Ritomo Miyata made his F1 testing debut at Jerez in January as part of the new programme
>and Toyotaโs World Endurance Championship team principal Kamui Kobayashi drove at Paul Ricard earlier this summer.
Holy based
>Now Haas has announced an even more ambitious test at Toyota-owned Fuji Speedway in August.
>Haas will run a two-day test at the former grand prix venue on August 6 and August 7, with test and reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa driving on day one
>before Toyotaโs reigning double Super Formula and Super GT champion Sho Tsuboi makes his F1 debut on the second day.
HOLY FUGGING BASED

the LMHs are a total bomb, and it's pretty obvious why; nobody wants to throw hundreds of millions at developing a bespoke chassis when they're just going to get BoP'd down to the level of spec go karts with modified road car engines. Toyota did it because their CEO is a racist autismo who will throw corporate funds at his personal pet projects, and Ferrari did it because it's a loophole that lets them work around the F1 cost cap. but otherwise nobody is taking it seriously. The Peugeot is shite and they are going to drop out within two seasons, and I hate to say the Aston is probably going the same direction.

Super Formula is basically the last remaining national F2 championship. 30-40 years ago it was pretty common for major motor racing countries to have their own F2 (Formula 3000 at the time) championships in addition to the international one ran by the FIA. the most prestigious of them being the British, French, and German championships. They all died out because of costs, whereas the Japanese version instead copied the Indycar route of spec chassis and engines (and for a while even ran modified Indy Lites machinery) to keep costs down and align the championship with Super GT.

on the contrary, it's pretty clear, that LMH is the only way to beat the BoP.
With the usual bopswing it's unlikely that caddy will win all the rest of the races, ferrari will grab both titles even if they dont win any of the rest of the 4, even though the last race pays 1.5x, but as the system works they will get a bop break next race anyways.
Peugeot inflicted pain on themselves with restarting with the car and basically burning away a bunch of development tokens.
Toyota is bopped to death and havent developed their car since early last year as they are waiting for ACO to confirm when the Hydrogen spec will debut in the championship (singabro linked an interview where they straight said they dont know if they want to develop a new car or wait for hydrogen as ACO is still havent announced the exact date for the latter. But the intention for H2 is 2027)

Porsche was lucky that ferrari hasnt unlocked their potential yet and toyota was fucking up a bunch of times to get their WDC.
Ferrari updated their car for this season and it's clearly unlocked some hardly boppable potential, meanwhile the LMDH part of the field is swinging around as they get their bop breaks and pegs with their spec parts restricting them from doing anything substantial

Man, I sure hope so. I really hope they can drum up more sponsorship for next year and do some more testing and development. I kind of think having the adjustable aero element inbthe front is probably hurting them, but that's a completely uneducated guess.
I have to say that it's insanely based of them to run an IMSA program in addition to the WEC program even though it is clearly expensive.

Of all the exotic cars I see in my city they are some of the most rare. Apparently, if you are a rich young faggot here you get a Lamborghini or an Audi R8. Maybe a Porsche, but most Porsche owner I have seen/met are older and more chill. I almost never see Ferraris driving around, but I do see them parked on the street from time to time. You see lots of Mustangs, Camaros, Supras, and a few GTRs and Lexus RCs. Corvettes, BMW M2/3/4s and Jaguar F-Types are pretty common, but I have only ever seen 3 Aston Martins and maybe as many Bentleys. I've only ever seen a McLaren at a cars and coffee and there is an older gentleman who drives a mint condition black Jaguar XJS 12 hard top.
I have never seen a nuNSX, ever.

If you think he isn't part of the problem, you might want to steal some more copper to buy whatever bathtub drugs are popular where you live.

LoL, no.
Even if he doesn't get immediately get scooped up for more money, hell get a commentator job or possibly even start his own team. A groid in racing is more valuable than a woman.

Other teams would fire their own drivers to hire Bubba and get his McDonalds and US Air Force sponsorship money. He won't be out of a job until he goes mental.

He is burning the money from his company like there is no tomorrow and I'm genuinely happy for that. At this point just give MSport direct access to the Fleetback bank accounts lol

from the article it seems he only "scales back" on full time racing, so we will still see him fuck around in whatever he wants to race in

All but 2 teams signed the charter agreement, non-chartered teams are doing better than in years past (maybe because NASCAR upped the purse money proportionally with the 6 reclaimed charters), and their unfair monopoly claim didn't even come with a request to break up the unfair monopoly.
Jeffrey Kessler the attorney might just be a sleazeball trying to enrich himself off of another sports league lawsuit and he convinced two gambling addicts Denny and MJ to bet on it. The NFL even refused the subpoena in this case saying Kessler was just trying to collect information he can use in other lawsuits against the NFL.

All I know about charters is that they guarantee the race teams spots in races and their eligible for the drivers championship, not sure about the owners championship

I never realized how open the regulations for Trans-Am are. This interview with Pancho Weaver at his shop is really quite interesting. Even if you don't like Trans-Am, you get to see some really cool closeup shots of some pretty cool race cars, including a genuine DEI stock car. Plus, there are some interesting tidbits on race car design.
