Grandpa Bowen is a miserly old curmudgeon and actually hasn't given Ma Bowen much of his ill-gotten wealth

She's a lady of humble means despite her pretensions to grandeur and can only afford a leasehold

Nothing weirder than the Irish larping as oppressed colonial subjects. They were an integral part of the United Kingdom with their MPs sitting in the House of Commons, not a colony in any meaningful way, and they participated voluntarily in all the atrocities of the British empire, for example the Jallianwala Bagh massacre which was ordered by an Irishman, Reginald Dyer.

Lots of heart shown by Robinson and Jacobs to lift NZ to a solid total of 173. NZ were in danger of tottering to a below-par score when they were 70 for 5, but they've been street smart in their partnership. Against Muthusamy, they took their time. Against the change-of-pace seamers, they were watchful. And when their eyes were set, they accelerated. A total of 63 scored off the last five overs. Also the Highest sixth-wicket stand in T20ls against SA.

South Africa's bowling was good for most of the innings but they couldn't finish the way they'd like. Time for their batters to have a crack in a few minutes.

>Durham have proposed a radical shake-up of English domestic cricket, including a rugby-style Grand Final to decide the County Championship.

>The county has addressed members, external with a change to the domestic structure and schedule in a bid to reduce player fatigue.

>The proposal, which Durham said has been developed along with other counties and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), suggests the current two-division championship should be scrapped.

>It would be replaced by two upper divisions of six teams each, and a lower division of six teams.

>The top team from each upper division would play in a five-day "Grand Final", which Durham claim would become "the first £1m domestic red-ball match".

Don't mind their idea for the T20 Blast (three regional leagues of 6)

Don't like the idea of two upper divisions of 6 for the county championship though, that feels a bit stupid - should just have one top league of the very best teams

Mixed feelings about the idea of a cup final style final at the end of it - oppose the idea on principle, but admittedly a spectacle like that could help to re-grow interest in the domestic game

Either have the T20 blast as three groups of six with 10 games minimum each where most of the games are played within the hundreds spot. Or have it a a league with two divisions with promotion and relegation and play throughout the season (but they would want to keep a finals day)

Counties and fans will want to maintain their regional rivalries (e.g., Roses derby, Pears vs Bears), as those are the big money makers.

Think that'd be a north group (Durham, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire), a middul/SW group (Pears, Bears, Northants, Gloucestershire, Glamorgan, Somerset), and a Southeast group (Essex, Middlesex, Surrey, Kent, Hampshire, Sussex). That feels about right in terms of quality in each group, although maybe the north one is a little stronger

Yeah I see what you mean. I guess extra arguments against your idea is that regional scheduling makes it easier for fans to attend away fixtures and reduces some of the travel burden on the players, but I do take your point that the current set-up means certain counties barely ever play each other, which is a shame

Obviously, the solution is to simply axe the H*ndred and all these issues get solved without the need to keep fucking around with the tournament structure and scheduling, but no chance of that happening any time soon, sadly

I dont think I ever faced a ball in real cricket that would've been faster than 140-142kmh

bit hard to say really because its all anecdotal and hard to compare with a bowling machine (because it always feels quicker in the nets)

Good bit in Trescothick’s biog about teaching him to play faster bowling. Because his hand eye coordination was absolute god tier he’d never had to think about it, could hit anything - until he got to the higher levels and the pace found him out.

I’ve been giving this some thought for the last few weeks, and tonight in particular it felt properly appropriate, because that anon is right. I can, and have (to the best of my knowledge), been making positive changes in my life to shake off the depression that has been coming and going for the last two years, but how could I ever have made a full positive change if I hadn’t made the most fucking obvious one - stopping coming here.

I am resigning from posting on /cric/. And 4chan, completely. For those who say it’s impossible to leave, ask the people from /mu/ that I left abruptly one day when I had had enough. It’s been nearly two years since I first came to this part of 4chan, during Brendon McCullum’s 302 against India, and almost one year to the day that the infamous Autistic Memespouter first noted my presence here. It’s been a ridiculous year, since that day, starting with people not having a clue who I was and shaping me up to be the next goose, before the dox, and everything shifting towards my personal life. It’s weird, up until the dox, most of my friends, including Ivana and Hugh, knew about it, because it was totally hilarious, but as soon as it became about them I stopped telling them. Still surprised no one ever found out. Maybe in a few years I’ll pull this back out and laugh.

In a way this place has helped me a lot, because in times of serious darkness I could still find companionship and happiness here, but in many others it is toxic. I’ve almost completely become desensitised to personal attacks. There have been some (You)s that I have received that could honestly drive a man to suicide. Really horrific, personal, disgusting attacks from disgusting, bitter people that somehow I just shrugged off as “banter”. A softer man would have killed himself, and I am not exaggerating. The fact that I can honestly read some of these posts about me and my life without feeling anything is incredibly dangerous.
Anonymous United States No.149828928 >>149831765 >>149831765
The “no friends” thing that I’ve been talking about has always been a bit of an exaggeration - there are four friends I’ve had for this whole duration, none of which you have found out about, but at many points they grew distant due to disconnection. At times I didn’t feel comfortable talking to them about my feelings, and with the exception of one who is in my band, I would frequently go months without talking to them. They all had their own girlfriends and own lives and didn’t have time for my shit, so I had no one to vent to. I guess that’s why 4chan is so great, because I could vent to you guys. I will say this right now that some of you know more about my personal life and thoughts than any of those friends, just because I had no fear in telling you guys. When you tell someone who you have a positive relationship with that you’re struggling with depression, they immediately see you totally differently, and the positive relationship could disappear.

I did eventually, in mid-December, tell one of these friends about my depression, a guy who coincidentally is studying mental health as a degree. That was coincidentally the week where everything looked up a bit. You guys may mock me for cheating my way into this job, and you’d be fucking right, but sometimes it’s just what you need. A shitty, undeserved chance to get better. That same day was the one when I asked not one but two girls out, something I had never properly done in my life. Call it cliche but that was just a small gift of the universe to pull me out, and I’m going to try and use it to get out for good. I didn’t deserve that job, but I’m not going to waste it.
Anonymous United States No.149828950 >>149831765
I do honestly believe I’m going up in life, to the point in which you guys telling me I’m still depressed has motivated me to make this move, because you’re wrong. Yeah, it’s a cunt move to be ignoring Ivana like this but what I’m hoping is that by the time I get back to uni I’ll be fully better, and I’ll be able to form a less toxic relationship with her. So I need to properly make changes to my life. I’m quitting my shitty music blog and joining a real website. I’m working two jobs, my band is playing shows. I’m going to make more friends and stop being a judgemental cunt. And finally, I’m leaving this place. I love it, and I hate it. But as everyone who comes here knows, it is not a place that a mentally sound person resides. It’s why everyone knows that Reality Christ isn’t real, because if he was actually that great, he wouldn’t be here. Anyone who pretends they are okay whilst posting on 4chan is kidding themselves. And so to be truly okay, I have to let go of this place. It saddens me, because I do enjoy talking about cricket here, but my plan is to get some real friends to talk about cricket with.

I’ve had some great times here, of course, although “great times on 4chan” sounds a bit depressing. I honestly don’t think I’ve had to contain laughter as much as that time we raided /mu/ at 2am, and other classic moments like the reveal that NotGoose was a redditor and 60 all out were classic.
Anonymous United States No.149828965 >>149831765
Statsautist, I know some of the things you’ve said about me. I know that you are afraid of ever meeting me because I will be able to use those things against you. I won’t. You are evidently just as troubled as me, and if you’ve convinced yourself that you aren’t then I really feel bad for you. Same goes for Krazykrezja. You occasionally seem like a cool guy but then I remember that you’re like 27 and on 4chan. Autistic Memespouter, I don’t know who you are. There was a point in which I tried really hard to find out but I’ve stopped caring. I hope you do something worthwhile. Reality Christ, stay based. We all know you’re bullshitting but I seriously admire the effort behind your art, and what fine art it is.

To anyone else from here who wants to keep in contact, you know how to reach me. I will not dox you, no matter who you are. I have the identities of four /cric/ posters who have not been doxxed and they have been completely safe, because I’m not a cunt. Even statscunt and krazykrezja, as much as their revealing would be glorious. I’ll be at most of the Auckland games this year, and am always keen for a pint down at /The Fox/ and a bit of banter. Trinibro and Pak weeb and the britbong posters, you guys are all cool, sorry if us southerners shat everywhere. I hope you guys don’t hate me, but you probably do.

>youre relying heavily on instinct built from years of batting
this is correct. I've read the pros have an idea of the length before the bowler releases and decide their shot during the first 3m of the ball's flight. It's then on autopilot or with a late adjustment like opening the face for the really good ones (international level players).

And lastly, I’d like to make a confession, which a couple of people have worked out. I know absolutely nothing about cricket. I loved it when I was a kid, to near autistic levels, but from the years of 2006 through to 2014 I did not watch a single game. I decided last year that I should start watching cricket again because my life had become too music-centric, in that everything about my personality had something to do with music. It was originally supposed to be just a side thing, that I just started following it again like normies do with most sports, but after the doxxing I got sucked in. My entire life became cricket because I was lonely and needed conversation and that was all I could get. The Durham meme? The “Daniel knows everything about cricket” shit? Absolute tosh. Even in my exile from the game, I played Cricket Captain for a bit, and Durham was my team, but nothing more than that. I am a true filthy fucking casual, and that’s totally okay. Because having more cricket knowledge is not something you should be proud of. I’m not really proud of the mass of knowledge I’ve gained this year whilst pretending to not be a casual.

Good night.

Think Bard might be a manlet as he keeps going on about his favourite shot as the “front foot cut” but surely a cut shot is for wide short pitch deliveries. all the talk of it implies he’s facing a lot of short bowling, maybe the bowlers aren’t adjusting their pitch to his height.

Actually after I posted that I remembered the south america photos where you didn't look that short.
>Dolly didn't have any domestic team before Worcs, we made him into the player he was
Sorry but this isn't the case, he was already known as a very good cricketer in the Cape Coloured leagues, had captained the non-white SA national side and it was a concerted effort on a group lead by John Arlott, the old TMS commentator, to get him to England and he had already played as a pro in the Lancashire League for several seasons before playing for Worcester by which point he was already in his mid-30s.

I genuinely am 6"1, and that's a real measurement instead of a "inflate it by a couple of inches to impress women" measurement (very common among blokes)

I will contend the point on Dolly and admit I don't know a massive amount of Pears' history prior to when I first started attending in around 1996 as a 4 year old

We've always been a comfy small county with few international players and that's ok, it makes it all the more meaningful when we do actually produce an international talent (although the only one of those I can think of who's actually from Worcestershire itself is Josh Tongue, nobody else local has made it to England for decades, as far as I know)
