The euros should probablly rearrange it in a pro/rel format, LFA has stated that the growth plan is to reach 12 teams and no more, thats as many teams as You can have to keep it competitive considering their feeder system are the 50 or so teams in the top level of mexican college football, having more teams would mean to start digging into the non-onefa/top FADEMAC college programs and clubs, which are like 500 or something but with a lower Quality of players. I don't think theres enough in Europe to have this 16 teams league and make it competitive, less so with their import player rules, make it so all the european players count as local that way players from countries with a more stsblished development system like Germany (which prolly should be límited to 2-3 teams) and Austria can reinforce the others

It's either that or opening the floodgates and eliminate the limi for non-europeans

Yes but they added too many teams in the US, too fast. When Baltimore won the Grey Cup in their second year in the league, it upset many Canadians, and attendance for Canadian teams started to weaken. Meanwhile in the US, after the opening day excitement, many teams struggled to attract fans.
What ended up killing them was having Baltimore be the marquee US team, which made it very easy for the NFL to snuff out by moving the Browns there. Baltimore had more fans at their games than most Canadian teams did at their own games. Losing the city to the NFL destroyed the league's only stronghold in the US. The other team owners decided to cut their losses and folded their teams.
St. Louis could possibly work for the same reason Baltimore worked: they're a former NFL market hungry for pro football. The Battlehawks having so much local support is proof of that. The question is if the CFL could make room for themselves in that market since the Battlehawks have already established themselves. The end of the UFL season and post-season overlaps the start of the CFL season. Maybe that could be worked around and maybe St. Louis could support both teams, but it would be risky, especially if the UFL was hostile to sharing the market.

One quirk is that during the last attempt to expand into the US, it was discovered that having a rule limiting the number of US players on a team violated US employment laws. If a city in US gets a CFL team, they can fill the roaster entirely with US players and not be hobbled by the requirements the Canadian teams have to limit the number of non-Canadian players. If there's just one CFL team in the US, it could end up being mostly an UFL All-Stars team, playing against teams made up of lots of former U-Sports players. Canadian teams would need to win against the US early in the season because once the UFL players rolled in part way through the season, it would be difficult to compete.

The XFL and USFL had different outlooks on what are the most valuable markets. This move is to unify the league's targeting of which metro fans are going to provide the best return on investment.
It does seem odd that no one considers Albuquerque. It has many advantages for a spring/early summer league. The main flaw I see is that the obvious venue, the University of New Mexico's football stadium, isn't up to contemporary standards. The NFL simply dumps a bunch of money into their rented stadiums when necessary but the UFL might not have the money for that.

If you've ever stood on both a CFL and NFL field, the first thing that sets in is how mind-numbingly massive the Canadian one is. The ball is also shaped differently. It's fatter in the center and less pointy on the ends. When you throw it, it hangs in the air forever and feels like it takes forever to get to the target.

This also means that everyone in the CFL is absurdly fast because there's 30% more ground to cover. This is the real reason Michael Sam and Johnny Manziel both failed in the CFL when they came here. You can't be a high calorie african american and you can't bail yourself out using your legs because *everbody* can use their legs too.

Pretty much every INT he threw was for this reason. Either underestimated how long the ball would hang in the air, or couldn't bail himself out because it turns out everyone on the field is unexpectedly quick.

The league initially wanted to use EMU but their broadcast partners balked at that for some reason, demanding Ford Field instead. The Panthers and (not Philadelphia) Stars have used the stadium as a practice facility before but according to the school's athletic director, no one has reached out to them about hosting the Panthers.
The 15,000 seat Corktown soccer stadium is still a few years away but when completed, should be up to whatever standards the UFL believes EMU doesn't meet. Spending a season or two at EMU doesn't seem like a bad compromise considering that the Panthers are the only team in the league to have increased ticket sales while everyone else has declined.

Sad in a way as they have good tv ratings and in most pro leagues, that matters far more than in-person ticket sales. What that tells me is advertisers don't value the UFL very much and are paying low rates for each tv viewer. In-person attendance is important for creating atmosphere but financially it should be the icing on the cake, not the flour, eggs, and butter of the operation.

Minor league pro teams all start with the understanding that Birmingham will welcome having a team. Seeing how crazy the state is for college football, it's tempting to believe that fandom can be transferred over to pro ball if they have a team. Historically Birmingham teams do well in attendance but for the UFL, modern suburban development patterns and lots of other choices for entertainment have made going to a game downtown far less enticing than it used to be.
