I was looking for something else he explained about where to take the stance couldn’t find it yet, but I’d suggest you try in the nets (if you can) take up between middle and leg and slide your back foot to leg as the delivery is coming. This will shift your weight to the front and then to the back so you will be able to get forward easier. I’ll have another look see if I can’t find it but anyway I think that will help

Whatever you do you need to practice it so you’re not thinking about it when you do it, you get to where you just keep watching the ball and you move to or away from it and the shot selection should always be the least risky depending on line and length and your own strengths with regards to technique (technique is what some people call muscle memory)
