The real question is, does IndyCar have the best sporting regulations of all the big series?
>No track limits
>No unlapping
>No command blue for cars on the lead lap (yes I know Palou exploited this to win the Indy 500, but it's generally a good rule)
>No pit stops under yellow
I know they have meme restarts, but I think it's the safest way to get workers out on track, especially for ovals.
Also, doesn't Trans-Am have these same rules?
Bonus question: Why do they even bother making a courtesy stop in India Part 2: Eletric Poo Poo on Shoe?

Am I crazy, or has Zilisch finished 1st or 2nd in every single race since he came back from his back injury? He's on a heater like we haven't seen. Street and road courses, tricky triangle, and high speed ovals? Justin Marks really got himself the next Jeff Gordon. Instead of expansion into other sports, he needs to be focused on building top tier NASCAR Cup cars so Zilly can go on a generational run. If there was ever a kid to go all in for, it's him.

I also would not be surprised to see Rodney Childress take the job as his CC. Could be they have a young stud they think they can pair with Zilly for the next decade, but if not Rodney is the best free agent on the market. He really is the best prospect this sport has seen since Gordon.

Re: Zilisch

This was him and SVG at Sonoma compared to the field. As it turns out, Zilisch was the only guy in NASCAR (any level) who could run faster than him. And unlike SVG, Connor wins on ovals. You gotta be out of your mind to not see this dynasty coming. Comparing him to Reddick at RCR or JRM is bad, and the Bell and Byron comparisons are worse.

For the foreseeable future 6/36 races will on road or street courses. You either need to sign a guy who has a good chance to win one of those, or against the field who's much better at ovals. I agree it is an oval series, but road/street will absolutely shape the series.

NTAY, but Legano won the Cup Championship with only 2 race wins. Don't get me wrong, you don't win these series by being a shitter, but they also don't reward consistent driving like a regular points system does. I'm not saying Reddick is "better" than Zillisch or vice versa, just that the meme off system isn't the best way to measure driving talent.
What I will say is that it is pretty exciting that we have what appears to be an up and coming world class talent in our sport and that it will be pretty interesting to watch his career until we are sick of seeing him win.

For sure, but I also had some stuff to do. I watched some of that Norwegan hill climb and that Lithuania race. Also, some of the SRO races. Then I got a call right after NASCAR started and lasted until about 10 minutes before it got called for rain. THEN I fell asleep before the WOO A Main race and basically forgot about SF all together both days. I don't really follow ALL the GT series, but I put a premium on the top ADAC stuff and some of the top SRO series. I do just like having vrooms on while I fold laundry or fix things around the house. I watched a video about tans am that a fren posted. I didn’t know much or anything about the series, but I’ve seen the cars in vidya. I never realised they are basically space frames with some body work thrown in it. I did think it was weird how they were using box section instead of tubular frames and that was apparently a big and relatively recent breakthrough.

How’s that even possible? It’s been known for years, decades, the benefits of tubular. Hell, I think even the bird cage was tubular?

What a beautiful, dreary Sunday for some racing bros. I just wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone that, when you take into consideration that Eastern Germany and East Germans are germanized West Slavs on germanized West Slavic clay, the Germans stole 200,000 blonde-haired/blue-eyed Polish children to raise as Germans during WWII, the Prussians were germanized Balto-Slavs, and one Polish emigration into Germany after another, like the Ruhrpolen, Germany is one giant Western Poland. Every -ske, -cke, -ke, -tzke, -shchke, -itsch, -witz, -itz, -au, -of, -y surname is a Germanized Polish/Slavic surname.

> β€œOliver, Elliott, congratulations on your victory!
It was three years ago in Belgium when I met Oliver in a Hyundai driving racesuit at the podium. When he got out of the i20, he spotted the legend, Juha Kankkunen. Determined to take a photo with the legend, he handed me his mobile phone and asked me to take the photo. I bent down and took a picture of him and Juha. Afterward, his father said β€œthank you” to me, but I think I only got a shy smile from him... There is still a video of that moment, which I will post on my official Instagram. I took today’s victory by Oliver as a β€˜thank you’ for three years ago. If he wins next time while I’m on site, I will rush over to him, so I hope he will take a photo with me and if Juha is there, I will ask him to take the photo!

> I’ve heard from the team that Juha has been giving Oliver various pieces of advice as it was his first time to compete with the GR YARIS Rally1. I am very grateful to Juha. I believe they will take another nice photo together, this time with Oliver in a TOYOTA GAZOO Racing overalls.

> The next rally is our home rally. We will put on the best performance for the people of JyvΓ€skylΓ€ who always support us. I’m counting on everyone in the team!”

We will keep working to make another step forward for Rally Finland which is important for myself and the team.”

please look at the replays before commenting bs, the track was in shit state az argieanon says.
If a track is maintained, there is no request for redevelopment
Zandvoort or imola are clear examples, and neither is some carpark tilkedrome
If the track itself is in good shape the series usually only requests the grandstands and the pit area to be upgraded when it gets old, but nowadays tracks realizing they are better of with nice pit buildings so they can attract more racing serieses and various kind of other activities like manufacturer events, corporate shits, driver trainigs, or things like corsa clienti. As far as I've seen some of them actually lends out the pit buiding as an event venue itself like footy stadiums do nowadays. The recent upgrade of the hungaroring facilities which is the bigest redevelopment work the circuit have seen was done without f1 chimping out for it

also an interesting note no one asked for, even though prostitution is illegal in hungary, the hungarian gp pretty quickly built out a reputation as a hooker gp, because the authorities did not care about it for the sake of fans so the campings were full of those. Basically not just hungarian but from all over eastern europe hookers flooded the area.
It went to the point, that in 2000 the government legalized it for the duration of the gp and localized to one of the camping areas, they've even built some housings for it and facilities, it was called erotic camping, but ofc it was a bit too much for fom understandably:D

Tough break for SVG today. He wasn't going to content or anything, but finally having track position on an oval and he gets a right front flat that killed his day. Overall a pretty miserable day for Trackhouse, and this is a track they're typically good at. larson and blaney are probably the only young guns who can drive. people will say elliot but today proved that wasn't true, he only sunk while the other two got to the front from the low 20s and early 30s

Yeah, Palou aside, we have seen some pretty interesting racing and results. Some of the drivers from Meyer Shank, Dale Coyne, A J Foyt, ED Carpenter, and Juncos Hollinger have not only gotten some respectable results but also had some pretty good battles. Now, of course, some of that is because Penske is under some kind of voodoo curse, but not all of it. It think Foyt and Shanks technical partnerships with Penske and Ganassi have helped them a lot and I think forcing Dale Coyne to run the same drivers all season has helped them. The racing had been pretty good for the most part and the only thing I'm really disappointed in is that Herta has been having such a shit season.

Just be like Brazil and make your own series, with even more black jack and hookers. If that's even possible. I know you have TC, but a sports car series that could allow competition of Endurance Brazil teams and vice versa would be pretty cool.

It's not a breakthrough it's just some shit Weaver does. Round tube is not inherently better than square tube at all it's purely a matter of application and how the tubes are laid out. The Riley chassis that dominates the series is mostly square tube other than the roll cage and Bob Riley designed Indy cars and LMPs.

Yeah, I thought that was pretty cool and I am glad you found it interesting. If that sort of old school design interests you, you might like "Chassis Engineering" by Herb Adams. It's not nearly as advanced as some of the engineering materials that get posted ITT, but it is a good introduction that presents things in a way that is easy to understand and entertaining to read.
It's gotten kind of expensive for what it is, but you can read it for free on archive.org
https://archive.org/details/chassisengineeri0000adam
>I did think it was weird how they were using box section instead of tubular frames
Box tubing is pretty good if you can make the force normal to the walls, but in a race car, you have tons of forces that act on the vehicle differently at different times. Round tubing is generally stronger per cross sectional area and so is considered "lighter" but its more expensive and much harder to work with. It is also easier to get higher quality round tube.
