>>149858321The real question is, does IndyCar have the best sporting regulations of all the big series?
>No track limits>No unlapping >No command blue for cars on the lead lap (yes I know Palou exploited this to win the Indy 500, but it's generally a good rule)>No pit stops under yellowI know they have meme restarts, but I think it's the safest way to get workers out on track, especially for ovals.
Also, doesn't Trans-Am have these same rules?
Bonus question: Why do they even bother making a courtesy stop in India Part 2: Eletric Poo Poo on Shoe?

Am I crazy, or has Zilisch finished 1st or 2nd in every single race since he came back from his back injury? He's on a heater like we haven't seen. Street and road courses, tricky triangle, and high speed ovals? Justin Marks really got himself the next Jeff Gordon. Instead of expansion into other sports, he needs to be focused on building top tier NASCAR Cup cars so Zilly can go on a generational run. If there was ever a kid to go all in for, it's him.
>>149870024I also would not be surprised to see Rodney Childress take the job as his CC. Could be they have a young stud they think they can pair with Zilly for the next decade, but if not Rodney is the best free agent on the market. He really is the best prospect this sport has seen since Gordon.
>rins out of yamaha at the end of the year, miller would take his place

woo featture just started
>>149870442He's so much better than Reddic, Bell and Byron were as prospects and surely you know this. This kid is out of this world. He can win ovals and beat SVG on road courses.
>>149870542No he's not, he's good don't get me wrong but look at their stats, they were consistent as hell and had multiple wins, Reddick won 2 straight Xfinity titles

Re: Zilisch
This was him and SVG at Sonoma compared to the field. As it turns out, Zilisch was the only guy in NASCAR (any level) who could run faster than him. And unlike SVG, Connor wins on ovals. You gotta be out of your mind to not see this dynasty coming. Comparing him to Reddick at RCR or JRM is bad, and the Bell and Byron comparisons are worse.
>>149870728>Comparing him to Reddick at RCR or JRM is bad, and the Bell and Byron comparisons are worse.Wrong you're glazing him way too hard
>>149870796Reddick was never 1 sec/lap better than the field on road courses. He owned ovals for sure, but that was it. He's always been "pretty good" at road racing.
Zilisch is younger and has less paved oval experience than both Reddick and Bell did during their Xfinity seasons. He's just better.
>>149870867NASCAR isn't a road course-centric series
Byron won 7 truck races as an 18 year old rookie then won the title as a 19 year old rookie in Xfinity with as many wins as the rest of the top 10 in points combined
Bell won 7 races, 11 top fives in his first full Xfinity season
Reddick won 6 races, the title and had 18 top fives in his second full Xfinity season
>>149870942For the foreseeable future 6/36 races will on road or street courses. You either need to sign a guy who has a good chance to win one of those, or against the field who's much better at ovals. I agree it is an oval series, but road/street will absolutely shape the series.

>>149870629>Reddick won 2 straight Xfinity titlesNTAY, but Legano won the Cup Championship with only 2 race wins. Don't get me wrong, you don't win these series by being a shitter, but they also don't reward consistent driving like a regular points system does. I'm not saying Reddick is "better" than Zillisch or vice versa, just that the meme off system isn't the best way to measure driving talent.
What I will say is that it is pretty exciting that we have what appears to be an up and coming world class talent in our sport and that it will be pretty interesting to watch his career until we are sick of seeing him win.
Remember when tv networks had a Kim Burton cam they'd show anytime Jeff was in contention? That was kinda weird

>>149878135>Race 2 earlier on was absolutely insane I'm looking forward to it!
>We don't have to watch every single sports car raceFor sure, but I also had some stuff to do. I watched some of that Norwegan hill climb and that Lithuania race. Also, some of the SRO races. Then I got a call right after NASCAR started and lasted until about 10 minutes before it got called for rain. THEN I fell asleep before the WOO A Main race and basically forgot about SF all together both days. I don't really follow ALL the GT series, but I put a premium on the top ADAC stuff and some of the top SRO series. I do just like having vrooms on while I fold laundry or fix things around the house. (I'm cleaning the office right now)
I'm most disappointed about missing the chance to watch SF with the frens. But hey, IndyCar is on at 12:00 today and I'm not missing that for anything!

I watched a video about tans am that a fren posted. I didnโt know much or anything about the series, but Iโve seen the cars in vidya. I never realised they are basically space frames with some body work thrown in it. I did think it was weird how they were using box section instead of tubular frames and that was apparently a big and relatively recent breakthrough.
Howโs that even possible? Itโs been known for years, decades, the benefits of tubular. Hell, I think even the bird cage was tubular?
Still, cool looking cars

What a beautiful, dreary Sunday for some racing bros. I just wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone that, when you take into consideration that Eastern Germany and East Germans are germanized West Slavs on germanized West Slavic clay, the Germans stole 200,000 blonde-haired/blue-eyed Polish children to raise as Germans during WWII, the Prussians were germanized Balto-Slavs, and one Polish emigration into Germany after another, like the Ruhrpolen, Germany is one giant Western Poland. Every -ske, -cke, -ke, -tzke, -shchke, -itsch, -witz, -itz, -au, -of, -y surname is a Germanized Polish/Slavic surname.

It was three years ago in Belgium when I met Oliver in a Hyundai driving racesuit at the podium. When he got out of the i20, he spotted the legend, Juha Kankkunen. Determined to take a photo with the legend, he handed me his mobile phone and asked me to take the photo. I bent down and took a picture of him and Juha. Afterward, his father said โthank youโ to me, but I think I only got a shy smile from him... There is still a video of that moment, which I will post on my official Instagram. I took todayโs victory by Oliver as a โthank youโ for three years ago. If he wins next time while Iโm on site, I will rush over to him, so I hope he will take a photo with me and if Juha is there, I will ask him to take the photo!
> Iโve heard from the team that Juha has been giving Oliver various pieces of advice as it was his first time to compete with the GR YARIS Rally1. I am very grateful to Juha. I believe they will take another nice photo together, this time with Oliver in a TOYOTA GAZOO Racing overalls.

If a track is maintained, there is no request for redevelopment
Zandvoort or imola are clear examples, and neither is some carpark tilkedrome
If the track itself is in good shape the series usually only requests the grandstands and the pit area to be upgraded when it gets old, but nowadays tracks realizing they are better of with nice pit buildings so they can attract more racing serieses and various kind of other activities like manufacturer events, corporate shits, driver trainigs, or things like corsa clienti. As far as I've seen some of them actually lends out the pit buiding as an event venue itself like footy stadiums do nowadays. The recent upgrade of the hungaroring facilities which is the bigest redevelopment work the circuit have seen was done without f1 chimping out for it
>>149887089BTW the new extended pit building will have 36 pit garages, so in theory we can hold an incredibly boring, overtakeless wec race in the future
>>149885616Word. I couldn't spend 15 minutes to figure that out.
>>149886546>sometimesAlways.
It's the most overrated series in the history of racing. Sure the cars are technologically amazing and a lot of the drivers are great, but fucking fuck, it's so stale from a sporting perspective. It's just so equipment dependent that it's insane. Then you have cunts flapping on about
>muh GOATOnly for him to get totally moged when someone builds a better car.
>Destroy your historic track at great expense to your local government so we can have a pedo party here for three years and fuck off forever. What a joke.
>>149887169also an interesting note no one asked for, even though prostitution is illegal in hungary, the hungarian gp pretty quickly built out a reputation as a hooker gp, because the authorities did not care about it for the sake of fans so the campings were full of those. Basically not just hungarian but from all over eastern europe hookers flooded the area.
It went to the point, that in 2000 the government legalized it for the duration of the gp and localized to one of the camping areas, they've even built some housings for it and facilities, it was called erotic camping, but ofc it was a bit too much for fom understandably:D

>>149887312>Destroy your historic track at great expense to your local government so we can have a pedo party here for three years and fuck off forever. It will be refurbished keeping the original layout
KYS retard
Not even your sacred cow IMSA would touch a track in such a disarray where even this publicity photo
>>149867655 shows that the track is in shit state
>>149887473>It will be refurbished keeping the original layout >KYS retard Alright, I'll concede that point (for now), but literally every other point stands.
>>149887473>It will be refurbished keeping the original layoutMinus any straight that doesn't end with a hairpin and any sweeping turn with an entry speed in excess of 40mph.
>>149887473>It will be refurbished keeping the original layoutthey want to add a chicane before the salotto, they are so fucking gay it's unreal
>>1498875721 chicane is not really equal to destroying a track
>>149886646>Is Argentina being included in the F1 scheduled confirmednothing is confirmed, but why would they do this?
remember that the country is economically pulverized
they want to bring motogp too (don't know what happened with termas)
>>149887592do you need a hug or something?
>>149887550Look, man, you're talking to a kool-aid drinker. He's fully bought in and changing his mind requires a rejection of his entire view on the world. It's simply too much of a psychological leap to understand the truth.

>>149887612>why would they do this?>the country is economically pulverized Dude, these people hold so much power that fucking with entire populations like this doesn't even register with them.
>So what if you wasted $100 million remodeling your track? >Just get more money, stupid.

No matter how bad things are going for Pecco right now, he's never getting near Mir's fraud level.
>>149886146i wasnt even aware they were trying to work on the track (again)
when texas said they wanted motogp on buenos aires i thought he was shitposting or just taken from a dude trust me tier source
eff juan could race wherever they want, fia grade 1 only means money for them(see street tracks) but motogp actually needs serious track to work
i doubt motos would run on anything outside termas here
personally i only wanted indy on rafaela but its never never now
if only i could know if he ran out of money from sponsors or siegel just paid gorillons dollars to take the seat
shit, every IndyCar diecast I find is either Penske, McLaren (non-Lundgaard) or Palou
grim
>>149888070if the country is in the shit, they are more probably will try to bring such things there or similar just to distract you from the problems
You know the bread and circus thing.
> Look anon we can hold a world championshipetc
one of the reasons why my govt is trying to bring as many things here as they can, we have contract for motogp, f1 extended til 2032, they are trying hard to bring olympic games here for a decade, etc...and make the broadcasts available free to air
If only you knew how bad things really are
>>149888161last year WRC Rally Poland was a similar political move to try to distract and grab votes, this is why it was single year, for the election year only, no long term contract or anything
>>149888168Might be time for him to retire
>>149888161this
our government has also been trying to do this with Rally Acropolis but people end up pissed more often than not, especially this year. the organization is also subpar if you were to compare it to other countries of course.
there was a guy screaming at one of the stage starts this year screaming he wants to go home and trying to start his car.
I still had fun seeing the cars up close, don't get me wrong.
>>149888123I dont collect certain series, drivers or teams diecasts but collect cars based on their collectable value, like this car which i have preordered, the only other white redbull is one from 2021 and some of them are going for ridiculous prices of between โฌ200-โฌ800 on ebay, this one i reckon will be worth more after a few years.
>>149888242>there was a guy screaming at one of the stage starts this year screaming he wants to go home and trying to start his car.Lol missed this story
usually the acropolis rally organisation is not that shit but this year it was werdly bad
>>149888343don't think it was really publicized, I found out from spectators on this Facebook group I am in kek
>>149888264for indycar, indy 500 wins gain value, for nascar is still race wins cars but the quality has dropped massively over years since lionel took over
Say what you want about Dennis, but that guy can really drive on ovals. Setting the fastest lap of the race on the last lap w/old tires to beat Briscoe was ballsy as fuck. Briscoe could have washed him up, and probably raced him cleaner than Hamlin would have if situations reversed, but staying on the 19's RR was so good.
Tough break for SVG today. He wasn't going to content or anything, but finally having track position on an oval and he gets a right front flat that killed his day. Overall a pretty miserable day for Trackhouse, and this is a track they're typically good at. The bad news is I expect them to be way worse at Indy since those massive high speed tracks are their worst, but at least for Ross and SVG the playoff tracks are mostly good ones for their program.
>>149888975That trophy is almost as big as Algaier
>>149889211Yeah, I really don't like the guy, but I can't deny he has talent, and it seems like he fought for this one all day.
>>149889251So that's what it was, huh? Had to watch a highlight reel tonight, real life kept me from the race. That's a little comfort at least, I didn't expect him to be setting the world on fire or anything but spending all day multiple laps down was a surprise.
>>149889414>So that's what it was, huh?Yeah, shot up the track early in the race and said something was wrong and had to pit. Turns out his right front was flat. Happened in like the first few laps of the race and totally killed his day. Brutal.
Dale double fisting a Busch Light and jar of pickles in victory line is kinda psycho
>>149889539Joonya is such a goofball. I hope all those concussions he suffered don't take him from us too soon, because he has great potential as an elder statesman of the sport.
>>149889575My favorite thing about him is that he loves NASCAR as much or more than any human being on the planet. Lets me overlook his goofiness in the booth. He's a true fan.
>>149889575>>149889612when I first got into nascar I didn't get why a guy who hadn't won a championship and had been irrelevant for years was the most popular driver, and overtime i understood, if kids today had a fraction of the love and passion joonya has the sport would be in a better place
>>149889727His dad played a role for sure, but I think the easiest way to describe why NASCAR fans love Jr is that every dude has a friend like him. He's as relatable as there is. The kinda guy anyone could shoot the shit and drink some beers with and have a good time. He wasn't great with media when he drove, but he was so genuine it ran contrary to all the corporate drones in the sport.
>>149889745he's the last of the good old boys, the later generations were molded after jimmie

>>149889831CTE does. Jumble your brain enough when you're young you'll just go apeshit as you age. Some sperg out and go psycho, but most just neck themselves.

larson and blaney are probably the only young guns who can drive. people will say elliot but today proved that wasn't true, he only sunk while the other two got to the front from the low 20s and early 30s
>>149894052With 4 races left and a -99 points difference, Pato needs to step up and get in the fast 6 consistently, and Palou needs to get seriously fucked over in every race for there to be any sort of title fight.

>>149895576Yeah, Palou aside, we have seen some pretty interesting racing and results. Some of the drivers from Meyer Shank, Dale Coyne, A J Foyt, ED Carpenter, and Juncos Hollinger have not only gotten some respectable results but also had some pretty good battles. Now, of course, some of that is because Penske is under some kind of voodoo curse, but not all of it. It think Foyt and Shanks technical partnerships with Penske and Ganassi have helped them a lot and I think forcing Dale Coyne to run the same drivers all season has helped them. The racing had been pretty good for the most part and the only thing I'm really disappointed in is that Herta has been having such a shit season.

>>149898065do it. I ain't running 5k but I am going to my local short asphalt oval with my senpai next weekend even though I prefer road course racing and it will conflict with my sports car racing watching. but it's fun to go out and do things.
>>149898104>senpaikek forgot about that filter. my f a m ily, dad, sister, and her bf.
>>149897960yeah, everybody on /fit/ is about seduction and manosphere shit lol
>>149898158what does that have to do with Alex Rossi being kind of a salty bitch about being a race car driver
>>149898104>conflict with my sports car racing watchingYeah, that's rough
>but it's fun to go out and do things. That's extremely true. I love watching racing with you guys, but I'd rather be out doing it, kek.
>>149897361>first reply asks why this is being done>when GluckGluck9000 explains it in the end of his postPeople like this deserve to be publicly beaten.
>>149898206eh. I'm mostly mad about probably missing the beginning of the Super Taikyu race. but I'll get to watch most of it. and there's GTWC Australia but I heard there's only like 14 entries this round...

>>149878528Shit, man. I thought I replied to this, but I guess I didn't. It's not even in the archives.
Yeah, I thought that was pretty cool and I am glad you found it interesting. If that sort of old school design interests you, you might like "Chassis Engineering" by Herb Adams. It's not nearly as advanced as some of the engineering materials that get posted ITT, but it is a good introduction that presents things in a way that is easy to understand and entertaining to read.
It's gotten kind of expensive for what it is, but you can read it for free on archive.org

>I did think it was weird how they were using box section instead of tubular framesBox tubing is pretty good if you can make the force normal to the walls, but in a race car, you have tons of forces that act on the vehicle differently at different times. Round tubing is generally stronger per cross sectional area and so is considered "lighter" but its more expensive and much harder to work with. It is also easier to get higher quality round tube.
>>149897714Well, most days, I just drink black coffee for breakfast and lunch then I eat a bunch of protein and vegetables from about 3-6. Then I ruin it all by drinking beer and cooking elaborate meals on race weekends, kek.
>>149898097>>149898104Yeah, I'll probably do the 5K, but I'll see how I feel later this week (though I'm not sure when registration closes). If I feel like I'll be slow, then I'll skip it. I want to do a half marathon later this year anyway. Also, based on the preliminary schedule Pockrass posted, I should be able to do the 5K, get home, have time to watch a recording of practice, then watch qualifying.
for whomever bakes later:
>>149887824(no rush)
>>149893087Based NASCAR for doing it.
(I didn't enjoy Sesame Street enough as a kid and now I regret it).
>>149894644damn, would make a hell of a biopic
>>149894958Apparently the man behind the works for it is Hermann Tilke, so this kind of things would be expected. I don't know why it's always him the one behind all projects to build new FIA Grade-1 circuits or bringing others to that level.
>>149894644damn, would make a hell of a biopic
gents can you bake new so i can share my rally estonia clips at the start of the bread
>>149901087I'll try to bake a new one if there are more anons awake now.
Wake up lads, it's time for a new motor/sp/ort stint:
