Finally had the chance to rewatch a high quality copy of the fight

Absolute domination every second, Usyk barely looked like he shifted out of second gear, dubum getting increasingly frustrated as Usyk danced around peppering him in the face

Dubois 100% quit, he was mentally shattered after that first knockdown, on the second he stayed down for the count but walked to his corner fine as soon as he got waved off, definitely could have got up in time

>So Dubois needed his preparation to be perfect, and, according to The Times, it wasn't - with the 27-year-old thought to have only arrived at Wembley less than 90 minutes before he was set to walk to the ring.

>It is thought he arrived at around 8:20pm, with events surrounding his father thought to have triggered the chaotic build-up.

>Things seemed to go south on the day of the fight, with Dubois' dad, Stanley, reportedly becoming 'agitated' by a report that Dubois was going to earn ยฃ150million for the fight, when the actual fee was around ยฃ10m.

>Stanley is thought to have hosted a party on the day of the fight with dozen of people attending, even though Dubois still lives at the family mansion in Essex too. He is said to have not known all of the guests well and at one stage left to go for a drive.

>Dubois' journey to the stadium was reportedly delayed after Stanley requested extra vehicles to take the entourage to the venue, and Dubois was taken to the venue by Stanley, with only one of the vehicles accredited.

>That resulted in Dubois walking to the stadium on foot, with his dad having parked in the car park.

>A video clip is reported to show Stanley heavily involved in the entrance to the stadium, with the former champion's father reportedly threatening that Dubois would not proceed if his entourage was not allowed in.

>Stanley was in Dubois' corner during the fight. He threw in the towel when his son was knocked down by Usyk for a second time - with the bout coming to an end in the fifth round.

>Stanley, whose real name is Dave, homeschooled Dubois as a child and has played a huge part in his rise to the top of boxing.

msot of the punches Hrgvoic landed were straight shots that dubois could see coming. dubois got caught by a hook this time while he was completely off his base and with his hands down after throwing and didnt have time to see it coming. the first knockdown just seemed to catch him off guard and off balance

It is strange
Could be some resentment / jealously on the part of the father at their sons being more successful than them
So they either position themselves as (unqualified) coaches to take credit / live the wins vicariously, or actively sabotage their own son to protect their own ego
Furys dad constantly making a scene and trying to grab all the attention is some of the most embarrassing behaviour i've seen in sports

Yeah I don't get these arguments about Usyk not being in the top 10 heavyweight arguments just because he's got a few less wins against bums. The amount of quality names he's faced since he's moved is already more than someone like Riddick Bowe who is constantly put in top 15-10 ranges, despite the fact that he really does not have much to his resume other than the Holyfield wins.

he sacked boxercise Ben like 2 months before the 2nd wilder fight, and the fight wasnt officially announced until about 10 days after steward was hired. the second fights camp was all sugar hill, the main reason he looked so bad in the third fight was because fury let himself bloat up like a fucking balloon outside of camp and was likely back on the nose candy, thats not on Sugar Hill, same thing for the joke that was the Ngubu fight.

its not the trainers responsibility to make sure hes eating/living well every single day, trainers can give you diet and excercise plans but at the end of the day they cant be around you 24/7 (unless its some weird Cus/Tyson situation), the fighter has a personal responsibility to keep themselves healthy. imo, its probably the absolute hardest part of boxing for these fighters, its hard to keep living well when you are earning millions every fight. its what fucked guys like hattons career because then their training camps just became entirely focused on losing weight rather than actually focusing on what the fighter needed to know and train to beat their opponent

Inoues dad as well is an excellent trainer for both his sons. i remember when Inoue got knocked down by Nery and went back to his corner, his dad didnt shout or anything like some retard like Teo sr would, barely said a word other than something like "you know you can do better than that, stop fighting dumb", and inoue went back out and demolished him. the good dad trainers seem to stay away from the spotlight it seems, you wouldnt even know inoues dad is his trainer unless someone told you

Are they basically all equal in prestige?
Or are some/one more prestigious than the others (the way Wimbledon is seen as the creme de la creme of the tennis grand slams)?
Like, lemme ask you guys as boxing fans, if you were a professional fighter, and you could be world champ, one time (multiple defences, but only one run), and it was only with one of the title...which one would you prefer?

WBO, WBA - slightly less shenanigans than the WBC but still corrupt as fuck

WBC - the most prestigious due to the many historical fighters wearing it. However the org likes to create tons of custom belts as well and had some shenanigans regarding the Regular Belt and Diamond Belt (which was supposed to be better then the Regular belt but...) Very flexible with their ranking system and will not enforce mandatory policy for popular fighters.

WBA - An okay belt but got caught up in having too many belts per division (interim, regular, and super) and their heavyweight belt embarrassment, basically being unable to sort out who's fighting for it and who is owed a legal shot at it. Said they were going to get rid of the number of belts but haven't.

WBO - Surpassed the WBA belt in prestige due to Manny Pacquaio holding it for so long.

IBF - IBF enforces its mandatory policy to a T, no one has really been able to get around that. This means unifications aren't made because the IBF says no you have to face this guy instead and they're ironclad about that. Doesn't help that their ranked fighters are lesser then the other orgs. Eddy Hearns said the IBF is great when you have an upcoming fighter because it guarantees a title shot, terrible when you're the beltholder and can't make fights due to mandatory.

Most fans consider the WBC to be a better belt to have, even if someone has the WBA, WBO, and IBF simultaneously

WBC is the most important belt due to the fact that its the most historic and iconic belt. I view the holders of these belts to be the strongest in their weight class.

WBO/WBA are about the same prestige wise. Solid belts, but holders of these belts wish they had the WBC belt. Fighters who hold these belts are usually in contention of being the best in their division.

IBF is just lol. Whenever you see someone only holding this belt they aren't a real champion level fighter. Least prestigious, my brain usually associates this belt with email champs or some weird mandatory shit going on.

Damn that's a shame. To me the WBC belt is by far the ugliest looking one. It has the most tacky/gaudy design. The big letters having to spell out what body the belt belongs too. The colourful eyesore of all the flags. Faces of past champs. When I'm holdiong the belt I don't want to be cucked by other ghosts of past legends, the belt should be mine and only mine. And the cuckily thin straps look awful. And the green is slightly off-putting. Not completely, I can appreciate a unique strap shade, but it's a bit too zesty overall.

Also apparently the WBC was established in Meixco. I'm surprised there isn't any stigma about it being 'the Mexican belt' or 'the Mexican fed'.

WBA is better but a little bland. Also I'm not a huge fan of royal/crown symbolism. Reminds me too much of institutions like the British Monarchy and Real Madrid.

Aesthetically the IBF and WBO are the most pleasing to me. Disappointing that they're not seen as prestigious, relatively.

I like the idea of what the The Ring magazine belt represents, a lineal title. Unfortunately it's the ugliest thing I've ever seen, makes the WBC look nice in comparison. I like the idea that it should have a different appearance to the standard belts, to differentiate itself from them. But not the ugly frilly monstrosity that it actually is lol. Maybe it should be a trophy rather than a belt.

Also it shouldn't be possible to vacate the title, as Fury did, if he's still an active boxer. Only way to give it up without losing should be to actually retire (not fake retire like Fury). He should have been recognised as still the lineal champ until he got beat by Usyk.

To me the only one that looks aesthetically good is the WBC belt. Seeing all the flags of the world and the guy on top triumphing all is so kino. WBA and WBO are boring and the leather they use is off putting. IBF is so ugly, looks like a mustache villain or some shit, has the globes as eyes and the gloves as a mustache. Ring magazine is a meme belt ignore it.

I think he decided exactly after Dubois gave him a similar 'low blow' in Round 4 I think it was. He took that shot without much effort and then his face - and fighting demeanor - seemed to say "Fuck this. I am going to obliterate this guy." After that Dubois had no chance.

He reminded of how he looked before the Huck fight going into this fight, he really did not like the attitude of Daniel's team, knew he was gonna obliterate him the second I noticed that Don Charles was getting on his nerves. There was an anon here speculating whether or not this would negatively affect Usyk if he came in more aggressive since Usyk rarely is phased during press conferences and the like, that anon must not have seen what happened to Huck in their fight. There are plenty of strategies worth trying to employ against Usyk, but getting on his nerves is NOT one of them, you don't want a fighter of his level actively hunting for the KO since he's not retarded enough to let his guard down.

In the context of a boxing discussion, โ€œShitosraโ€ is very likely a derogatory nickname or slang insult aimed at Shakur Stevenson, a professional boxer.

It appears to be a portmanteau of โ€œshitโ€ and Shakurโ€, stylized as โ€œShitosraโ€ โ€” mocking or expressing dislike toward him. This kind of nickname is common in online sports communities (e.g., โ€œFraud Mayweatherโ€ for Floyd Mayweather by critics, โ€œDuckneloโ€ for Canelo รlvarez, etc.).

I honestly think the only reason chisora was able to fight the way he did against Usyk was simply because Usyk hadn't adjusted to heavyweight yet. Most of the reason Chisora was able to have so much success early on was because he didn't respect usyks power at all. Since that fight he's finished/nearly finished every single one of his opponents (AJ in the 12th round of the first fight, Fury round 9, Dubois ร—2). He's clearly become much more accustomed to the weight both in terms of giving and taking shots despite getting older

In the context of /box/ slang, โ€œbongsaโ€ is a term used mockingly to describe a fighter as having boring, long, jab-heavy, and low-power boxing style โ€” usually someone who plays it safe, often behind a long jab, and doesn't go for knockouts or brawls. It's short for "boring sans power", and is often applied to slick boxers who are technically excellent but not seen as entertaining by certain fans.

While some people might have made comments about Tyson Fury having a "large corey," likely as part of his larger-than-life persona or in jest, thereโ€™s no verified evidence or credible documentation to support such claims. These remarks are likely fueled by his confident, showman personality rather than fact. Without reliable sources or medical data, it remains speculation and not something I can confirm.

Don Charles went on damage control the other day saying Daniel had a prefight party the day he fought AJ and they were just trying to replicate that, but I don't believe it considering (1) Dan reportedly went for a drive during the party and (2) the whole car mix up. You don't just leave your own party unless there's something wrong and the car mix up creates chaos in what should be a controlled environment.

>Hagler
Leonard insisted this was a 12 round fight not a 15 round fight. Most people also had Hagler winning, but lost the decision because he was the original golden boy. Leonard putting together an impressive performance against an ATG middleweight is impressive but so did Duran who was an ATG lightweight
>Hearns
Objectively lost the second fight and even admits this, but was once again protected by golden boy status. While the win at 147 is legit extremely good, Hearns' peak was arguably 154 and a single really good win doesn't make you Ray Robinson
>Duran
Despite revisionist garb, the first fight was competitive and Leonard should be commended for his efforts (despite losing) instead of trying to write this off and artificially insert an asterisk into it. However, the rematch involved Leonard giving Duran as short a camp as possible and stacking the deck in their favour. Duran, a lightweight, would also go on to have much better performances at 147+

All things considered, the Benitez and Hearns (147) performances were solid, and Leonard is a top 5 welterweight of all time, but DKSABBERS get carried completely away by his legend. People act like this dude is top 10 P4P OAT when in reality he's Canelo+ or the black De La Hoya

I don't make the rules - I just enforce them

Yeah, there is.
>Hagler requested a rematch but Leonard chose to retire again
>Fourteen months following their fight, Hagler retired from boxing on June 13, 1988
>Hagler declared that he was "tired of waiting" for Leonard to grant him a rematch. Just a month succeeding Hagler's retirement, Leonard announced another boxing comeback
>Hagler moved to Italy, where he became a well-known star of action films

>Boxing promoter Bob Arum has explained why a rematch between Leonard and Hagler never came to fruition.

>Speaking to DAZN, Arum stated that there was some complications in getting their first bout set up, due to desires from Hagler to retire. โ€œAt first, Marvin wanted absolutely nothing to do with fighting Leonard or anyone else.โ€

>However, Arum explained Hagler was eventually convinced to accept the fight with Leonard.

>In terms of a rematch between the two after the split decision, Arum said that he was told by Hagler that the fighter had his โ€˜fill of boxingโ€™ after the loss.

>Leonard was eager for the rematch, even saying to Arum to convince Hagler to agree to a second fight. However, the Top Rank CEO said when he asked Hagler about the sequel bout, the boxer replied by saying, โ€œBob, tell Ray to get a life.โ€

>Arum explained that Hagler had been passive with his spending habits in the past, meaning that the financial gain of the rematch was not necessarily one that appealed to him.

>The Leonard fight would be Haglerโ€™s last, as he retired at the age of 32, with his career spanning 14 years.

Leonard was not better at all, he could only beat Duran when he gave him absolutely no time to train properly for the rematch and when he was years out of his prime at middleweight. The first fight is probably the greatest win in boxing history all things considered
