I love Usyk, i think he is an exceptional fighter a consummate pro and a gracious champion. But too many act as if he is a perfect angel of boxing who is immune to criticism.

The fact is, that he is not a very active fighter for someone holding all the toys. He fights on average something like every 8 months at heavyweight, which is fine for someone who doesn't hold all the belts. But for the unified champ it holds up the rest of the division as people wait around for their title shots etc.

I understand he was tied up in remarches etc but let's not act like Usyk doesn't have any agency in these decisions and what he could have done. The guy owns the division, if he wanted to he could have fought more and i can't help but feel if Fury had done the exact same he would have copped a lot more criticism.

I just love watching the guy fight, he fights the same way every time. He goes in with three or four hits at a time, he punches whatever is there. He hits shoulders, biceps, elbows, forearms, punches the guard back into their faces, over and over. Move in, punch, step back, repeat with the pressure. Around round five to seven their guard will have loosened up enough for him to push it around, then he does his set up combo which he starts with either hand. Something like left jab to their guard, a right straight to their right glove to knock it back, while he pulls his right back he throws a left uppercut through the opening his right made, then a follow up right hook to the head that was knocked up by the uppercut. Repeat again until they're wobbled, then he finishes. Probably the best example of this is the Callum Smith fight.

There's just something satisfying watching a guy go in with a very clear game plan and carry it out. Ironically its why he lost the second Bivol match, he won't deviate from his style so he can be lead around the ring for the twelve rounds. He won the first fight thanks to Bivol deciding to stand in the pocket for that mid round and got himself rocked and ran for a bit, without that Bivol would have won the decision for the first fight as well.
