Botafogo x Cruzeiro, the most /fa/ br teams. I don't know if I must root against my current biggest rival or against Cruzeiro. Botafogo has a better team but Cruzeiro main players are better. Besides that, Leonardo Jardim is probably the best manager in the continent right now. Good results would be:
Flamengo winning.
Cruzeiro, Corinthians and Palmeiras losing.

Boa tarde, Fiel

We never had a cancha or hincha culture. We can't look at outliers in the former largest stadium in the world and assume the typical attendance average was in the 100,000s. That wasn't true even for the Rio clubs that played in the Maracanã regularly.
Of course, we had many problems back then. The competitions were disorganised, the country was even poorer than it is now, scheduling was a mess, and there were many forces at play that reduced fan interest in the games. But that doesn't change the fact that we never had the same passion and commitment as the Argentinians have.
If you ever go to the stadium with your father, your uncles or maybe your grandfather, you probably also know chanting is a relatively new thing in Brazil. Up until the late 90s, the only chanting you'd hear in stadiums would be the typical short chants like "vai morrer", "ei, juiz", "é campeão" or chanting the club's name in hot moments of the game (like "meeengooo" or "gaaaalooo"). Sometimes an adaptation of a very popular song would be adopted by the fans, "Vasco é o time da virada" and Fluminense's "A bênção João de Deus" come to mind. But those were very few and stadium atmospheres were mostly white noise, reactions to goals, tackles and missed shots, and very few minutes of chanting. It started changing in the 2000s, but the current standard we have for hinchadas, that you should sing many songs throughout the entirety of the games, wouldn't become a standard until the 2010s.

But I'll give it to you that the aesthetics used to be much better. Especially with the flares, paper and flags.

>But that doesn't change the fact that we never had the same passion and commitment as the Argentinians have.
this is true, but in the 60s and 70s there was a hincha culture here.
THere were 30 magazines only about football and people would go to the stadium every week

After the world cup 2014 the hincha culture was killed because we have to pay for the next 30 years for these reformations and the tickets are ultra expensive
And in the 70s and 80s clubs didnt care about bilheteria money. They couldnt care less about making 1 single dollar.

In the 90s to go to morumbi people would take 3 or 4 busses and that alone would cost more than the ticket itself. We never had government helping clubs like in Argentina

Check the Wiki link. The data is depressing. Pic are the best averages by year. Corinthians had the best attendance rates in 2004 putting less than 15k people in the stadium at home games. They'd get laughed at to no end if they put 13k people in the Neo Química in 2025. Fluminense led 2000 and 2002 once again with rates lower than any they had post-COVID and and attendances that would certainly lead to Ukraine mosaic jokes on Xitter nowadays. The proeminence of Flamengo, Fluminense, Atlético-MG and Cruzeiro is also largely thanks to the size of the Maracanã and the Mineirão. If you played two games to 10k people and then one to 80k, you'r average out of the three games would get pulled up to 33k. The ingresso caro cope can't explain why 2019 was the first Brasileirão with an average attendance above 20k after 1987 (Flamengo is the answer to both btw). You can blame the format or the disorganisation in the late 80s and 90s, maybe even the small clubs. But we changed to pintos corridos and people still didn't go to la cancha.

Eleição no Corinthians: Augusto fala em superar Flamengo, promete Fiel Torcedor a preços populares e quer maior distintivo do mundo

INGRESSO POPULAR

Does anyone know which other states do this? I know Rio Grande do Sul does it too, maybe Bahia if I'm not misremembering. Rio and São Paulo don't.

In the 80s you'd be paying to watch São Paulo x Ananindeua Anauê from Roraima on a wednesday to see who gets to play against winners of Group K Metalúrgico-SC. There was no Uber and Morumbi didn't even have a metro station back then.
