Greatest ever FC Porto CB and current football director Jorge Costa has passed away
Press F to pay respects

>inb4 literally who
Boomers know who he is, he is that guy who had a fight with George Weah in the Champions League in the 90s

One of the biggest pieces of shit in the history of Portuguese football.

Not the greatest cb, but up there. Porto had him, Fernando Couto, Aloiso, Jorge Andrade, Ricardo Carvalho(the best one imo), Pepe. Maybe he is the most memorable one for the us, old people, of all of those cbs

But rip. A son of a gun as a player, but great person.
And he was at Euro 2000 which is the Euro I liked the most to watch

It's not fair anons...
He had given an interview to SporTV a few hours ago...
Fuck..

Anyway, he wasn't our "best" CB ever, I'd give that title to Ricardo Carvalho and Pepe, but he was probably our best captain for sure.

>Iker Casillas
>he was at Porto's training facilities when he suffered a cardiac arrest in 2019.

I don't want to say anything, BUT having 2 major strokes in your sports facilities seems kinda weird, just saying.
Anonymous Portugal No.150106733 [Report] >>150106849
I'm 38 and vividly remember when he played. He used to be a true embodiment of soul and team dedication back in the day.
He was known for keeping the locker room in check when it came to egos from some players. On the pitch he was a classic big guy CB just doing his job, being as rough as that position required, which garnered dislike from some rivals, but at the same time recognition, he was good friends with many players from rival clubs.

RIP

It's not like any of them were geriatric. It must be the mix of high-humidity + heat while doing some kind of exercise that they shouldn't be doing at that period of time anyways.

I doubt Jorge Costa was doing any kind of exercise.
Guy was 53, with a respectable beer belly.
He was giving an interview to one of our sports channels and he asked to have the interview indoors, so he was probably feeling ill by then already. He had a stroke a few hours later, was transported to the hospital in a serious condition and died there a few minutes later.

This guy talks bad about almost everyone for ages on the media
When his friends are at a club he criticized he will then speak good of that club as long they stay

And don't forget he also had issues with Pinto da Costa for ages until he left Porto and realized he was dying.

Oh, even a few weeks ago he spoke bad of Jorge Costa again, about his leadership when he was a player(and had issues with Otavio at Porto) and his current job at Porto. This guy and his grudges, so disgusting

Jorge Costa wasn't a Paulinho Santos.
He did his best for his team, the same way he did on the NT even if he was a tough guy on the pitch and you can see that on channel 11 since they usually air our Euro 2000 games. That was his style, his only way to play at top. He was also a natural leader

Sad how Rui and Jorge Costa were such good friends, but despite people knowing that, it always seemed they had to hide or not talk much about, hell I don't recall a interview together after their player career was over, because of retarded supporters.

For a country that loves football, we don't hear much players talking freely, or ex players from the big 3. It's fucking dumb

Not surprised he's dead in his 50s. He was known with Sergio Conceicao and Ricardo Sa Pinto to snort tons of coke in Liège when they were the "3 amigos" here. Sa Pinto actually came back as our manager and basically wasn't even hiding the fact that he was a cokehead on the touchline (Google Sa Pinto Standard Liège Anderlecht)

Anyway kids moral of this story is don't do coke and be an athlete. Your heart will give out
