>Proper obsessed with football
>Every game is almost sold out in leagues and international matches
>One of the passionate/violent fanbases in the world
>One world cup in the 30s
>Has a constant stream of funding from billionaires and sponsors
>Have loads of players born from the Netherlands playing for them with Patrick Kluveirt as coach
>Ranked 118th in the world rankings

Why is Indonesian football like this? Okay the trajectory is going up but to think they're one of the most football obsessed nations in the world they would at least do better internationally in Asia and the World Cup.

I want to say it's because they are short and brown but Argentina and Spain are really good. Maybe it's their diets

I was quite surprised to learn how much they care about the sport. Indonesia still is really invisible on the global stage in general, not only in football, if you consider they have 285,000,000 people and aren't super-poor
Their national team is very reliant on Dutch mercenaries, they would be complete ass without them. Surely they can and will improve a bit in the future, but you'd still expect them to do better. They should be able to create a decent sports system on Java at least. Sure, the average Indonesian is short and not very athletic, but you'd still expect them to find a few good players in such a large and young population that cares about the sport

we don't have the right infrastructure to develop players from their childhood to teenage to adult years. We produce a lot of good U12 up to U17 squads, those kids can compete even against Japan or Korean youths, but after that there's no clear and established path or system, our FA and its politics simply don't believe in long-term sustainable players development. National team is basically a project for politicians.

I always think the same. Our football environment is basically very similar to South American countries, but somehow they can produce world class talents year after year.

We don't care about sports. Most, if not almost all schools here don't have any sports clubs and the few that do are practically empty. Even the most popular sports competition at school level, DBL for basketball, is only cared about by students from very few elite schools.
Football is only popular here because it was the easiest sport to play with your friends, but there's a big shift to futsal because there's a lack of football fields and the players needed to play. Also there's decreasing interest among youth because they now have phones to waste time with.
If you're wondering why our NT fucking sucks
>stamina
They're not used to running or even taking long walks since childhood and those fuckers still smoke
>iq
The ones aiming to become professional footballers here are the dumbest in country full of dumb people
>lack of growth
The local club training facilities omg they're fucking horrible

We were ranked 150 just two years ago, and I remember near the 200 in 2016 after FIFA ban. On paper, that looks like good progress but in reality, it's mostly the result of mass naturalization being used as a shortcut. The assumption that our improvement is due to increased funding is misleading. Richfags here donโ€™t care about domestic football, they pour their money into buying foreign clubs instead because investing in local football is a lost cause due to how absolutely corrupt this entire country is from top to bottom.

If that Anon posted that the sky was blue would the sky be living rent free in his head as well?
He stated some facts that Indonesians are short and brown like the Spanish and Argentinians. It's just reality, Anon.

Archipelago mindset so no unity, really and like even in America there are 2-5 Soccer Regions where the best players basically grow up together. Even Jakarta is sprawling to points beyond comprehension to New Yorkers and Angelinos.
They're China's China and India's India so the level of poverty in some places is baffling... the only time you hear about them internationally is when there's a harrowing story of some Chinese or Indian or SEA professional who gets lured to a job interview that's actually them kidnapping them and becoming an extortion slave trying to get English and Chinese speakers to give them money.
Not to mention they're among the shortest people in the world.
